Only request I would have is to limit myself to one power / primer if practical. If not, I can buy two. I see a lot of 2400 & Unique for .41 Mag. All bullets would need to be commercially available to order on line (no casting). Just finished my bench and this will be my first foray into reloading. Hunting loads are designed for hogs and 250 - 300 pounds would be a large hog in North Texas. Thanks .41 Magnum Freedom Arms Model 83 Hunting Bullet - Prefer WFN Hardcast (250 grain or thereabout) Velocity: 1200 - 1350 fps Bullet: Primer: Powder: Case:
Also would like another one for the range at 1000 FPS same bullet / bullet weight fine. I can certain vary the bullet if I can use the same powder, primer case. .44 Magnum Ruger SBHHunting Bullet - Prefer WFN Hardcast Velocity: 1100 - 1200 fps Bullet: Primer: Power: Case: 250 - 265 Grain Bullet: Primer: Powder: Case: Would also like a plinker at 950 or 1000 fps. Could be same bullet / weight and could of course vary the bullet type if kept the other components consistent.

For the .41 Magnum: Brass: Winchester Primer: Winchester LP Bullet: Cast Performance 255 Powder: H110/22.0 grains Velocity: 1450+- from a 6" barrel or: All the same but: Bullet: Cast Performance or Lead Head 250 WFN GC {same bullet that Federal and CorBon uses} Powder: 20.0 grains of H110 {less powder than the 255 because the bullet shank is longer} target load: Same but 8.0 grains of Unique will run 1000-1075 fps I've used both loads in my FA 654 and S&W 57s. I've shot the 255s out to 780 yards and they are VERY accurate. I would also recommend you purchase a Lee Carbide Factory Crimp Die and put a very heavy roll crimp on the rounds in a separate step. It helps a lot with complete powder burn even with a fast powder like Unique. Work up both H110 loads from -2.0 grains. Bob

I agree with the above loads except you could use Starline brass or Federal(I have reloaded Fed AE cases over 6 times with my hotter than book loads and they never split and size right back again) It is excellent brass. I can't say the same for Rem & Win that I shot factory loads and/or factory new brass that splits the first or 2nd time I use it, especially Rem Nickel brass and this was with Hornady load data. I have been using leadhead hard cast for years, IMO great bullets from a one man operation. they are typically 22-24 BH scale, I have waked them with a mallet and the looked un touched.

I can't help with the 41 mag, I don't have one, but I certainly have a few 44's (my favorite handgun caliber)
A nice load I use is Starline Brass (the best IMHO) LPP (Whatever brand you have/find) I use mostly Federal. 265gr WFNPB (my home cast) Universal powder.
SL Brass LPP 250-265gr WFNPB 7.5-8.5gr Universal Clays (start@7.0gr and work up)
Good all around load, kills deer no problem and easy on the shooter. THIS IS MY MOST USED LOAD, For Everything!
Also Same as above, but 21.0/22.0gr H110 (look@ manual and work up to this) LMP primer, I also use standard Federal LPP with zero problems, ymmv.

For the 41 Mag I like 17 grs. of 2400 with the Keith 230 gr. cast or the same charge using the LBT 250 gr. cast. I've taken elk with both bullets. In the 44 magnum I've always liked 21 grs of 2400 & the Keith 250 gr. cast slug. I've taken 4 elk with that bullet & a whole lot of deer. If you need to go hotter switch to H110 & a magnum primer. I don't because my above loads have always shot in & out of elk. More speed means more recoil, pick your poison.

Powder: Alliant 2400 Bullet(s): Lead Head PM41 250 SWFN & Lead Head PM44 250 Keith Primer: Winchester Standard LP Primer Brass: Starline (41) and (44)
That was about as close as I could come to the board recommendations.
Thanks to all and hopefully I have not confused anything.
I will have some professional oversight once everything comes in and I start loading.

Can't do better than that for consolidation of powder, primer and bullets...
Keep us posted on your progress...

Bob, very fine shooting by the way from the sitting position with your 41 FA. That 8 grs. of Unique is my summer time load in my 41 Bisley, use it for badgers & big bull ground squirrels. 780 yds must be about halfway across Mackay SB front lawn!

Coming from you Dick, I find that a great compliment... My problem now is the cataract that developed just after I got back from Idaho in 2014...that little black dot on the hillside behind Mackay's place is going to be a blur next trip out... I am hoping it can be taken care of before the next trip...
Mackay's front yard is a lasered 1200 yards to the road...the target is in the side yard...
8.0/Unique is just the most accurate load I have found...just put a bullet on top and shoot... Runs 950 fps with a 210 grain bullets and exactly duplicates the original "Police" loading...
With all the game you have taken you are my "Handgun Hunting Idol"....and hope to meet you next trip out...
Thanks again...Bob

I hope to be blessed and meet up with Dick someday myself. He seems like a true gentleman and he sure knows how to have good fun in the outdoors. Bob Maybe we'll have to make it a road trip I find that most gun folks seem like just good hearted folks that feel like an extension of family... Heck Bob, I can't wait to meet up with you. I think I'll be up your way again about 6/23'ish...? Do you think you'll be around? Ray
