Mountain lake ride with friends in Montana near Whitefish I loved the two vacations I had in and around Whitefish. I didn't want to leave. Spent a week on the lake after a wedding in Canada. Sweet. Had a week in a cabin on Flathead lake, too. Beautiful area.

Wife and I riding in Utah Beautiful in it's own, unique way as well. What area in Utah? I've been down around Zion Nat'l Park and the red rock formations there are something. But, as Dick warns, watch out for those Utah fly fisherman!

But, as Dick warns, watch out for those Utah fly fisherman! We rode Zion, Bryce Canyon, Pariah River Valley (where they filmed Outlaw Jose Wales), and the Grand Canyon. gorgeous country.

how about some boots... I see lots of hats... any interesting boots out there??? my favorites are a pair of real ostrich boots super light, & super comfortable... wouldn't wear them out hunting... but I do wear them when out on the town... should get a pic one of these days of my CAS boots with the spurs on I've got just a couple pair of western boots. One is a basic pair of Ariat square toe western boots that are quite comfortable to wear for this curmudgeon. The other is a nice pair of Lucchese black ropers in ostrich skin (not ostrich quill). I found out those boots are not meant for cold weather wear! I guess it makes sense as ostrich are from warm/hot weather climes. I about froze my toes off one Sunday! All I have is a stuffy picture taken before my friend's funeral, and it barely shows one of the black ostrich skin boots. The Homburg style hat is considered to be the most formal of hats, maybe a tad less formal than the old top hats of the 1800's, but worn at similar events like the opera, funerals of state, etc. I had not worn a suit for 10 years, even to church and other "dress up" events. I was all about guayabera shirts that I didn't have to tuck in. Only as respect to my dearly departed friend did I wear a suit, or a Homburg hat (not really my favorite style). I sure miss Marco. He was taken by the damnable cancer that spread from his stomach throughout his body.

Dougader, Because of you, sent my battered brown hat, the one in this pic that is even more worn now, back to Rands to have the hatband resewn on and be reblocked. brim was getting floppy and crown was all bent up and pinched in the wrong places.

My favorite boots and one of my favorite single action revolvers. Boots are Lucchese elephant hide and have a lot of miles in the saddle on them. Elephant hide is tough as nails.
