A very few of my rifles have scopes, but most wear peep sights. I prefer peeps because they are fast to get a sight picture, especially the ghost ring aperture. Years ago a good friend, who had seen combat in WWII and Korea showed me a couple of his handguns that had peep sights. It was the first time I had seen this. "Not as precise as regular iron sights, but faster," was his comment. Handling those weapons I found sight alignment was as quick as a laser sight. The factory sights on my new 7 1/2" SBH are not clear to my eyes, and it looks like a set of Bowen sights won't be available for some time yet. So I am thinking to try peep sights on this gun. I would appreciate any thoughts, comments or past experiences anyone with peep sights on a handgun.

Check with Sixshot/Dick. Sometimes he has some available for sale.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to take any pictures for a day or two but it looks just like the one Veeman posted.

I worked in the oilfield with the guy who started "One Ragged Hole." Luckily I got to try some of these very early on.
His health declined to the point of having to sell his company.
The product has worked great for me and now sold thru Warren Custom.

Sixshot also sold some tall fiber optic front sights that work just perfectly with his rear peep sight on my .44 special.
I must admit I hate the way the fiber optic sights look and that is the only gun I have one on but that set up really works.

That's an interesting sight setup for sure....I may have to give this or a V rear sight a try on my 4 5/8" SBH 44mag. It might be just the ticket for when I still hunt the thick cover in my deer areas...?
Thanks BigBore44

I put a one ragged hole rear sight on a SBH about 10 years ago .I think it came with a big and small aperture.I think I used the big one.I ground off the front sight some, then drilled and tapped a hole in it for a fiber optic shotgun bead(it never crossed my mind that you could buy this ready made).Ive never hunted with it,but it seems like it has a pretty good sight picture in lower light. The shotgun bead is big and easy to see but not so good for precision.I also got it too low.If Sixshot still has or makes his fiber optic front sight I would be interested. The peep does seem to help with the fuzzy sights I seem to be getting the last few years.Hope this helped.

I had a Redhawk with V notch rear and gold bead front like a rifle. It worked pretty well if memory serves me. The fellow I sold the revolver to loves the setup. It did line up quicker.I think the sights were available from Ruger but it's been 30years or more.A peep should make the front sight clearer.

I don't have any on a single action, but have 4 Williams fiber optic ghost rings on my double actions 3 - 6" barrels, and 1 - 2.5" barrel
The Williams sights have a fiber optic dot on each side of the aperture that works like traditional 3 dot sights when used with a fiber optic front sight, for accuracy work, or you can just use the peep for fast work...
