encore64 Great, glad one turned up. I think you'll like it. We'd sure like a range report when you get it to the range. Thanks.

Great service from a gunbroker seller. The gun arrived at my LGS this morning. Great turn around considering I sent payment off only a week ago.
The manager of my shop collects and shoots fine revolvers too. He and I shoot together frequently, so I trust his opinion and assessment.
He tells me the gun us unfired and in perfect condition. Great News, but will be a few days before I see it due to work schedule.

Well, as always happens. Another NIB Colt NF 44 Special showed up. Far better grip material and fit. Absolutely perfect condition. Mine for $250 less than the first. Unless I missed it somewhere I did not see what barrel length the Colt NF is. By the way,,, FYI: The 44-40,38 SP and the 44SP are usually very accurate in the Colts. Much more than the 45 Colt.

You are correct, I failed to provide all the information.
It is a 7 1/2", which is more common and exactly what I wanted.
I have always preferred the 45 Colt and other 45 Caliber guns. But, experiments with the Matt's Wadcutters Bullets have fueled my acceptance of the 44s.
In my destruction tests they performed great even at moderate velocity. The results caused me to add this Colt, a Bulldog Target and a S&W 69.
Have always heard a poor excuse is better than no excuse.

I was thinking that Keith had a SAA and so did Skeeter Skelton in the 44 SP with 7 1/2" barrel. I enjoy my Colts and would like to add a couple more to my collection. My friends call my 7 1/2" SAA (in 45) my Matt Dillon gun. It is accurate and it would be difficult to part with. Welcome to the club.

My dad loved Elmer Keith. So in my teenage years I had plenty of his writings to read. Between that and an old hardback Shooters Digest, I was convinced Elmers 44 Special 7 1/2 " NF was for me.
But, by time I was working and bought my first gun, testosterone had brought on the Magnum bug.
Big bullets and lots of powder ruled for the next 37 years.
After buying a Ruger Flattop Bisley 44 Special, I was hooked.
It brought back so many feelings of a teenagers dream, I had to buy the gun. No Regrets...

Trust me and I agree 100%, you will not have any regrets. If you do find that it needs some repairs or something corrected, I recommend Eddie Janis of PeacemakerSpecialist.com As a matter of fact he has a NF of mine right now. It's 7 1/2" . I am going to tell you the same thing I tell everyone that owns a colt and that is keep it lubed and Oiled. I use a lighter grease such as Tetra or Hoppes. Too many of those fine guns were run dry and not properly taken care of. So since your's is in top shape, I encourage you to keep it that way. I am glad you corrected me, as I could not remember what Elmer and Skeeter both had. I do remember they both had a 7 1/2" 44,,, but could not remember if it was NF or SAA. I should pay more attention to what was built and when it was built. Now you make me want to come shoot with you.

I Tetra Lube everything. It's one of the best lubes I've ever found. I am a bit obsessed with gun care, so no problem there.
I have and read all the Keith and Taffin books. They both have far more experience with this fine old cartridge than I ever will.

Yes and as a matter of fact I believe Mr. Taffin had Eddie rebuild one of his 44s. he has been very busy but it would be nice for him to chime in here on this one.

I picked up my Colt today. It is simply stunning.
I don't have ambitions that this will be a workhorse gun or even used very often. It's just a bucket list gun that I've always wanted.
As always I appreciate the guidance and information.
