I've been tied up with work the last few weeks and finally got a chance to hit the range this morning. Little bit of sun, 25 degrees with light wind and gentle snow, had a real nice time! I went to town on the Bisley 480's grips a few weeks back and sanded them flush with the frame, these are the same cracked set I repaired and slapped on right after I got it. The original wood ones were way too small, not worth taking off the metal required to sit flush on that pair. The front sight continues to impress and after shooting about 500 through it I think the height will be just perfect. I'll make a nice looking version when I get some free time. I shot up the rest of my "shotgun loads" with undersized Penn bullets over Longshot, about 50 or so that were left over. They definitely patterned, not grouped, but were still fun to speed shoot on steel. I think I ended up putting about 100 of the 340gr MBC over 27.6gr of H4227 down range, the flush fit grips are much more comfortable for extended shooting. 340gr Missouri bullets were good out to 50 yards on a 12" steel plate, when I have some time I'll do the 100yd challenge and see what it looks like. Anyway, here's the 480 with a much better grip/fit situation. I also brought along one of my all time favorite guns, the Alaskan in 454 (hence my user name). She got 50 rounds of 300gr XTP Mags over 30.5gr of 4227 and 30 rounds of 350gr cast over 24.0gr of 4227. That 350gr load is far more pleasant to shoot that the 300gr and it hits like a hammer. I was doing steel challenge "bear gun style" and speed shooting 12" plates with the full tilt XTPs, my hand got beat up a bit but at least I know I can use the gun in a hurry if need be. Lastly, another beloved member of the family is my 45 Redhawk with a round butt grip and moonclip conversion. Those are some really light 155gr SWCs in the ACP brass at standard pressure and 30k psi 255gr loads in Colt brass. I got some Redhawk only 45 Colt data a few weeks back and will be working up loads as time allows. Hope you guys enjoy, the weather was great for pictures today.

Is that front sight on backwards?

If you mean the one on the 480, it's one I made from a scrap .440 height blade, thinned it down and made a partridge style. The factory blade was way too short.

Got a chance to give the 480 an action job today, the factory take up was a mile long and after cleaning up the hammer/sear it's quite nice. Got a free spin pawl installed as well. I think it'll be about done after a belt mountain base pin and the finalized front sight.

How do you like the Redhawk 45 colt/acp? How is the accuracy with both cartridges? Thx Jeff

Jeffer, I like it a lot. It's a converted gun, not the newer factory model, so it takes regular moonclips that work with 625s and 1917s. Accuracy wise it shoots as well as I need in DA, I've never bothered to shoot groups with it, but it'll knock down steel at 25-50 yds with Colt and ACP rounds.

I finally got around to making the proper front sight, came out right around the .400" mark using a factory .440" replacement blade. My original sight was .340" and is bottom out on the rear shooting 340gr bullets, I figure this height should give me proper adjustment for 330-420gr and I can always reduce the height later if needed. I'll clean it up tonight and square up the edges with a stone before bluing. Should look pretty nice on the 480.

I just realized that is the best 50 yard group I've ever shot, and with bullets that cost 16 cents a piece to boot. This 480's a keeper.

That is great shooting. Finding my 454 & 480 shoot great.
Looks like you have a definite keeper.

Thank you, I was having a hard time with consistency but managed to put up a few good ones. Most of the 3 shot strings were between 2-3" at 50yds, I had only one really good group (above), and a few bad ones.
