I got the call this evening from Dustin Linebaugh. He is dropping my Hog Killer a .45 Bisquero off at UPS tonight.
Not a true custom gun but Dustin re-barreled it put a 4 5/8" barrel on, dovetail front sight , tightened up the action, put about a 3 pound, glass rod trigger job on it. Reamed and polished the cylinder throats and sanded the grips to the frame.
I had an opportunity to shoot it a few weeks ago at Dustin's house to get the sights regulated to a 300 grain WFN at 1200. I could not get over the difference between the stock grips and the Dustin-ized grips. The gun felt perfect in the hand. Amazing.
He had an elephant tusk on a shelf in the shop that I coon fingered off and on for 2 days. I'll have to save up to get those put on the next project "Big Brother".
Next year I'm getting a 475 L built on another vaquero. This one will be a twin of Dustin's gun, blue with a stainless grip frame.
Now I only have to wait for the Big Brown Truck of Happiness.

Sounds like this one: Dustin did way more to the gun than I paid for, fitted the grips without my asking and it shoots better than I can and it is a real favorite. Oh and Axe if you regulate the sights right and don't change your load you don't need to adjust the sights! Even if you get thrown from a horse on your gun!

Now I hate that Kings6 is sending me a 4 5/8 Bisley 45.... Dave Clements does make a little adjustable sight for these things. Guess we all have our weaknesses huh?

Just so you know Axe, I did handle your new sixgun (in parts) last week. I REALLY wanted to etch my initials on it somewhere and see how long it took for you to find them

That is very similar. Nicer grips though. I am looking forward to using it SOON. I'll post pics when I get it.

You can bet I'll check it over good to make sure there are no extra markings on it!

Hey Axe, Tell John Kurt J from the Trinidad class says hi. Thanks I hope that was the gunsmithing school and not the hospital, although that would answer a lot of questions there Axe... ;D

Yes Fowler it was the gunsmithing school. I met John Gallagher at a class on building big bore revolvers about 8 years ago, great guy and a wealth of knowledge. Never did see any of them transistors while I was there.

Big Brown truck of Happiness arrived. Dustin added a #5 base pin to the work already listed. The gun feels perfect.
Hope to get range time soon. I am now in South Eastern Virginia instead of the PacNorWest, finding a spot to shoot outdoors is not simple. Indoor ranges frown on 45 caliber, 300 grain WFN bullets going down range at 1250fps!!
I'll try to post pictures over in the Gallery.

Mr. Fowler - do you have a link to a place I could capture/save that target? I'd like to try it and have never seen one I could download.
Thanks Mark

Fowler, I wish I had your photographic skills. The pictures do not do justice to Dustin's work. And he is a nice guy to boot. The first photo shows the front sight better, the second one shows the fit of the grips to frame.
