IF, and IF is the key word, I can afford it. I would like some desert ironwood for my NM single six. Anybody got a pair for sale? Who would I contact to have a set made?
Thanks

If you do not have the wood, and want to get it then have a maker do the grips, you can purchase the wood from Arizonaironwood.com I would check with the "Gripmaker" before I purchased any wood since many times the wood is not completely dry. I have purchased wood in the past and then had to keep it for 6-12 months before I could begin the process. A custom Gripmaker may want that wood to be in their possession for a length of time before beginning work on it. A block of wood can look dry and when it is cut, for the scales, it will move. Also When it is sanded and shaped, one has to be careful not to let it get warm or hot since that will in turn cause it to warp.
I do not know any grip makers that use it specifically. There is the burls and then the regular wood. Roy Fishpaw has some different woods, so you might check with him. He may take awhile to get to it. To have a pair of scales setting around,,,, they would have to be oversize, so that they could be fit to your gun specifically. Trust me you do not want a set of "off the shelf" grips. I do not know of any "Gripmaker" that would start a set of grips just to have on hand.
That is some beautiful wood, that I see on Knives much more, than say a set of grips. I can easily see that wood on a stainless pistol. Especially the burl. Roy Fishpaw, ROB Rowen, Paul Persinger I can and do recommend.

Believe it or not, some people are happy with a set of off the shelf grips. It just depends on how well they're made.

I think Fishpaw is retired.
