Since you fine enablers caused us to have to buy one thought I'd share. Arrived Thursday. Fit and finish are very good. The cylinder throats are an even.454 on all chambers. The B/C gap is more than I would prefer at .008. I put Houge black micarta grips on our other Bisleys but the spare set I have won't fit this grip frame without rework so we'll just use the factory grips for now. Thought I might get a chance to try her out today while the wife goes to work but since it's windy I'll hold off for a while. Still have to set up our new Caldwell Stable Table across the road at our shooting site. Anyway we are quite pleased to add her to the stable of Rugers. Still have to order dies and brass and find some primers around here. Have lots of .45 Colt ammo loaded up and ready to go. Have lots of powder and cast bullets on hand. This is the first new Ruger we've bought that didn't have a fired case in the box. Apparently they use jacketed bullets for test firing, had to use some Sweet's and a Chore Boy wrapped brush to get the barrel cleaned Here is a picture of her with the Acusport .45 Bisley and Vaquero .45 Bisley. I put the white Hogue grips on mine and they fit to perfection. Annoyed me a bit. I was happy with the fit, but it left me curious.
If Hogue can build grips to fit Ruger frames, why can't Ruger build grips to fit Ruger frames?
Congratulations on your new gun.

...If Hogue can build grips to fit Ruger frames, why can't Ruger build grips to fit Ruger frames?.... That is a very, very good question.

I'm with you guys, it is funny how the Hogue grips do seem to come closer to fitting the guns than the ones that come on them.
Cylinder gaps on all six that we got in ranged from .007" to .011". Throats were all big, .454"-.456". Turned the first three down first and waited for the other three to get here. and picked the one with .007" cylinder gap and .454 throats, the best of the six. Sprayed people with lead and lube at the range and could never get the gun to group. Usually have good luck with 24 grains of H110 behind my 355 Keiths in 45 Colt Starline brass. Nothing seemed to tighten the random groups up. Realized that I would have to wait until after more of the people left next to me at the range before I could continue on. My Dealer and friend chronoed the ammo out of the factory ruger compared to one with good throats and barrel cylinder gap. The gun with everything right shot about 140 some more FPS than did the loose barreled and throated 454 Ruger. Got an RMA number with my Dealer and sending the gun back to have them make it right. I hope it comes back right. Made sure and gave it a chance though. Ruger proves me right almost every time. Measurements seem to tell you.
Good looking set of guns you got there. I Love my accusport gun also. It is a super shooter. Got a .004" (not great but good for a factory ruger) cylinder gap and .452 throats. Chambers are good also. Love mine.
Enjoy those blasters. You have some nice ones.

I've seen a lot of comments about the throat dimensions being over sized but they have historical sent .454/.455 throats out with the Super Redhawks in 454 Casull. My Alaskan has .455 throats in all six chambers and a .453 groove in the barrel. Seems they designed it for a .454 cast bullet or to bleed off pressure with .452 guns running near max.

Yes, I've wandered the same thing. The engineer at Ruger said that he also designed the bore diameter to also be larger by .001". He had a blank response when asked about the same bullets being used on the 454 along with the 45 Colt. He did not make much since of anything truthfully. Scared me to death. They can do it right and they should.
I had a few 45 colt chambered Blackhawks that have been great shooters, but they had them down for a while there. My friend got a Williams stainless 45 bisley the other day also. It's a real shooter too. They are not going to be like my Harton and Dustin 45's, and I am aware of that, but not many can always afford to spend that kind of money. When mine gets back from Ruger, I'll give it a shot, otherwise I'll just move it on, load up my 21 grains of H110 behind my 355 Kieths and shoot my 6 shot accusport guns.
One thing for sure, those 454 sbh Bisley's look nice.
