CaryC's post about clear grips brought back a WW II memory for me. During WW II Kennedy General Hospital was located in Memphis, Tennessee, and remained open for several years afterward. A General Hospital had wounded from all branches of service, and they remained here for rehabilitation for a number of years.
One of the things they made were revolver grips of clear Lucite. These grips had a opaque white, or colored backing, and were not transparent as those on Cary's post. In the clear Lucite were often minature red roses, four leaf clovers, small red dice, gold ornaments, whatever struck the maker. The grips I saw were for Colt or Smith & Wesson service revolvers, and most I saw were on guns in the holsters of Memphis police officers. It's been a long time since I have seen any of these, but Cary's post brough back the memory. Not only the grips, but of Kennedy Hospital and the men recovering there.
