I recently saw a picture of the stainless .475 Bisley on BCA's website and was wondering if anyone has seen one of these on a blued gun? I think it would look particularly nice on a Vaquero or Flattop build with the full Turnbull treatment.

There is a picture of a blued ovate barrel in Bowen's book "The Custom Revolver." The book is available in Kindle format for about 10 bucks, or you can search out a hard copy at $500 and up.

Ovate is one style I have not had done yet on a custom. Trying to figure out the perfect project and if it works out right, the ideal candidate may be coming home sometime this fall. Have to wait and see how the first stage of custom work turns out.

I'm still trying to decide what I want for my first custom so there isn't even a donor gun in the safe yet as the only suitable one doesn't have proper serial number placement. Right now I'm on the fence between (1) Bowen nimrod in stainless with scalloped gate and recoil shield, decked frame with fitted ivory micarta, and whatever other goodies Hamilton suggests or (2) Ovate barreled Long Hunter with a flattoped frame and a trip to Turnbull followed by the same grip treatment. I've heard the standard nimrod conversions have much faster turnaround since everything is done in house so I'll probably lean towards whichever one gets in my hands faster.

So clear grips are out, but outta round barrels are hot. I'm not in market for either unless what comes with the gun doesn't work, but still, makes me wonder what moves folks. Open minds, open minds folks.
