Well, not the greatest group, about 40 mph wind. But, what I am happy with is that they tracked straight and weren't keyholed

Bob, I think you alone are driving up the prices of 41 magnums buddy!! Nice shooting. Dick ...it's what happens when you are late to the party...high priced leftovers...

cm...how was the recoil? Were you getting any pressure signs..
I had stags on a 6.5" BH .41 and with 250s it was not pleasant...

Recoil was fine. Pressure was fine as well. I settled on this load due to it being more accurate. I think I went up to 20 grains previously

Would y’all feel adequately gunned chasing elk out to 75-100 yards with a 41?

Assuming a load using 250+ Grain cast bullets.

Randy, with my FA97 and Swift AF 210gr. I’d feel good about elk to 75, on a broadside shot. But I’m limited to SAAMI spec length due to the short cylinder.

Unless it hits a very large bone, a 210 grain .41 will run all the way through an elk at that distance...
Trapr...you can run 250s in your 97...I do all the time. Both the CorBon and Federal CastCore rounds use the 250 grain LBT WFN bullet from Cast Performance and Leadhead. 20 grains of H110 runs 1305 from a 4.25" barrel...it is a handful however...
If you cast your own, the Accurate Molds 41-250F and 41-250L both also fit the short cylinder of the 97 and Taurus Tracker. The 250F has a .37 meplat and can be had plain base or GC. The 250L is a GC design and becoming one of my favorite bullets.

Question about the 97 vs 83. I own an 83 in 454 and have never laid eyes on a 97, which is the reason for my question. Would the cylinder on an 83 in 41 mag be longer than it would be on a 97?

Yes, the 83 is a bigger gun.

I've felt adequately gunned a few times on elk with both the 230 gr Keith & the 250 gr LBT. Complete penetration with both bullets.

Yes, the 83 is a bigger gun. Trapr Thank you sir. Mostly likely that's my next gun. Someday. Just need to decide on a barrel length...

I think Taffin did a write up of one with a 10” barrel and shot heavy bullets. It was impressive.
