Great shooting! How hard are you pushing those bullets? Five shots averaged 1646 fps from the 10" FA`s 41....

Very nice! Do you shoot much cast or is it mostly jacketed?

CM, When I first read JT`s article in a FACA journal he wrote in detail of how accurate a 210gr XTP was at 100 yards which was enough for me to call FA an order my 10" model 83... When I recieved the 41 I made up some of John`s AA #9 handloads with the 210 XTP and went to the range to shoot this 100yd 3 shot group in the photo... I can`t shoot a group like that any more but the #9 handload using a XTP or Swift bullet are all I`ve shot through this gun.... The XTP has a slight edge over the Swift with 100yd accuracy and runs about 80 fps faster....

Oh wow! I would be very curious to see how your FA .41 behaved with some heavy cast like the 300 SSK or bullets similar to what Lee Martin shot in his heavy .41 mag article

I shoot my .41s a lot at the local range - 25 yards. I like to do a lot of shooting so I load them down for target work. My regular load is 4.3 grains Bullseye over a 215 lead SWC and it is so sweet to shoot! I have a 6.5 inch Blackhawk that I converted into a Bisley and customized with Wolff Springs and a Bowen rear sight, and a 6 inch Model 57 made in 1980. Both shoot 2 inch groups at 25 yards for 10 shot groups.

Resurrecting this thread too. Taking my Bisley accusport to range tomorrow and going to test the 300 ssk loads out to 100 yards and beyond. Going to check for stability and accuracy

...sounds like a GREAT plan...
What are you running for powder...? Have tried that bullet with the Lee Reloading Manual 19.0 grains of H110 but if I were to load that bullet again it would 18.0.
Was just looking at some .41 bullets in the basement...from 166 to 305 grains. The 305s are from a Mountain Mold and very accurate. I have one Penn SSK in the collection and I believe it was 305 grains...

Iām using my FA 97 this week on turkeys and hogs, just took a nice Jake this evening with it at about 40-50 yards. Checked loads this morning and got a 1.5ā group at 50 with 210gr bullets and a 2ā group with Barnes 180XPB. This little FA is really starting to grow on me.

My first and only 41 at the moment. This is it right after I completed a Bisley grip conversion and made a set of micarta grips for it. Love this caliber and am thinking of buying an FA or BFR in 41 as well.

Trapr, congratulations on that Gobbler with your 41. Never have killed a turkey with a shot gun but I've gobbled up a few with cast bullets when I lived it Texas. Bob, I think you alone are driving up the prices of 41 magnums buddy!! Nice shooting.
