I imagine they'll be just right. Shame that buying a .454 is the only way to get a properly dimensioned .45Colt from Ruger.  |

Anybody measure one of these yet? I have ask Max about this. He did not say exactly. One thing that has had me wondering about is how do they get to the correct throat? what I mean is do they ream them or do they Hone them? This might not be a critical thing,, But that carpenter SS is some tough stuff. I figure a reamer is going to get dull pretty quick. SO,,, I just hope that QC is on top of this. I am not worried, but one of my aptitudes is being high in analytical thinking, so I sometimes "what if " something to death.. hahaha They should be correct judging by the way that the 454 shoots. |

Sad! Tried to pick the best 454 out of the three that came in.
Throats measured from .454-.455, not even consistent.
Cylinder gaps were a gaping .008-.011 between the two.
Rejected all three guns. Ruger needs to get their head out.
Where are these great tight Ruger 5 holers coming from anyway?
Keep hearing about them.
Makes me sad. I was hoping that things were looking up.

I just measured mine at .455. One is .454 for the last 1/8" or has an invisible burr. I guess I'll see how she shoots! I don't think I'll have time to measure the barrel soon.

That is really too bad. I was disappointed in the grip fitting based on the pictures and people seemed to take an attitude of, "You should be grateful for Ruger bringing an affordable product to market, and fix their mistakes on your own." I wonder if your observation while be met with the same outlook... |

I'd be interested to see some spent brass and some holes in something.
Put away the tape measure, abacus, and slide rule and go have some fun! You guys have totally missed the point. This isn't a science project, it's a revolver, sometimes referred to as a gun.

I hear you.
I think the best thing for anyone to do is just be honest.
I like Rugers myself, but I most always buy them for build guns.
They seem to usually need something. I have had a few of the 45 Colt cylinders that have been super.
The things that people want out of a production grade revolver Ruger could do with ease and without getting to custom grade tolerances.
I just get tired of being let down by the gun reviews and talk. Seems like everyone gets Rugers that have not good, but decent tolerances expected by production guns, especially for a 65,000 pressured round potential.
They are great build guns.
Sorry about the frustration.
I also want them to work it out so that we can have good affordable guns from them.
This is what I expected when they got here, but always want to believe the best.

To the points above me: I'm guessing there will be 500-1500 happy customers who don't own pin gauges with guns that shoot accurately. And a couple of guys on the internet saying "Well, that'll never work!"
We shall see in due time!

Proof is definitely in the shooting.
My experience has just proved to me that throat size is important.

Years ago I bought a used Ruger 77 MkII in 7x64 Brenneke that had a typical German type throat leade of about a quarter mile down bore. I just knew that sucker wasn't going to shoot with all that leade and a standard length mag box with limited seating allowance. So I called Rugers customer service and talked to the head guy, don't remember his name now and he patiently explained to me, the expert, that they had built this run of guns more for the overseas market than for us and thus it wasn't SAAMI but the Euro equivalent whatever its called, cant remember that either. After a period of me telling him it wasn't going to shoot, he said wait " have you shot it yet", to which I replied that hell no, anybody could tell it wasn't going to shoot! He said shoot it and get back to me. Well OK, so I bit the bullet and took it to the range expecting a shotgun pattern and well whadayaknow? It started right off shooting near MOA with several loads! After a couple range sessions I called Ruger back and got my man on the horn and said, well you were right, and I apologized for acting like a jerk, which I had done. Ya just never know.
