Ruger is finally following S&Ws lead and they have begun to build models that mirror expensive customs. Ruger can thank farsighted leaders at Lipsey's. I'm too old to walk around the woods with one of those monsters on my hip, but there are a lot of guys and gals who can.

Gee wiz... the cheap production grips fit for like the first 50 years, now that's asking too much?

What's the best scope mount for one of these? Can u mount one of them there fancy reflex sights like Zeus has on it? I know the Weigand mount will fit. I am really curious about the SSK T'SOB mount. It comes down to touch the barrel, so if the barrel is much larger it may cause a problem. I am curious about the pinned front sight. There are some nice fiber optic replacement blades. One of those combined with the V-Notch rear would make a fast sighting gun. I have a scope on my BFR 454 and thinking of doing the same with my FA-83.

That barrel length with the longer ejector tube just looks right with the Bisley gripframe. Very nice.
The last several new Rugers I handled had badly misfit grips. Lets hope the production models are better than that .480.

I see a solid Bisley grip frame,,, a pair of big bore calibers that will satisfy most shooters, a sturdy 5 shot cylinder, a locking base pin, a pinned (and replaceable if necessary,) front sight, a barrel length to get good results out of each caliber, and all done as a factory item,,, not a custom.
What's not to like?
Grips are always a personal preference to many. Even well fitting grips get replaced with customs. As long as the grips stay in place when firing,,, who cares! It's a SHOOTER!
Now the wait begins for mine to come in!

Hey Weagle, if you watch the whole video you'll see they list it as $969. It's at the very end, so it's easy to miss.

I'd buy them if when I have the chance and money in hand but I'm so mad at Ruger right now for the fact that they should have done these years ago. I'm not going to give up my BFR's being as I got rid of all my Rugers to get them. I'm glad they did these hopefully they will sell well and become quite prolific.

They have been building us quality products at affordable prices for years. Like you, I bought six BFRs, but all without regrets. A few Freedom Arms and Ubertis along the way too. These guns are considerably more packable than the heavy BFRs, so can be allocated to different uses. May send my BFR 454 Casull to Gary Reeder to convert it to his 455 GNR. A 475 Linebaugh case necked down to take 45 caliber bullets. That long barrel will eek every fps possible out of that necked down case. Always lots of fun things you can do with revolvers.
