Steve's 480 is absolutely magnificent, and my favorite by a long shot. My guess is that it is a short barreled Bisley 480, 4 5/8 or less based on the stubby base pin head. Also, thanks for doing this! Eric Edit: Copying pictures is more involved than I thought. [img src=" i34.photobucket.com/albums/d150/stevemikel2/100_2793_zps17ea22e8.jpg" src=" " alt=" "]

Please don't include me in the drawing. I think you already gave me some 480 brass a couple years ago Stan. For a first 480, Dick's gun would be my choice. Perfect. For a fun gun, I like the 2 guns on the Ruger medium frame I've seen posted here. Steve's 480 with the S&W ribbed barrel is gorgeous. The Shorty octagon made from a 44 special flat top is a favorite, too. My guess is a 5-shot 480 Bisley 5.5" (just because I want one so bad)

I'll put in. The ratio of Primer size to rim diameter on that teaser pic matches up to a .480. I'll also guess stainless with a 5.5" barrel, and ill fitting laminate grips. 5 shot, but "standard" diameter cylinder. For a .480, I have to go with my own Huntington built Midframe stainless flattop Bisley. For a .475, also my own, Clements octagon barreled and Kolar gripped stainless Bisley:

I'm thinking a Bisley Stainless 480 5.5in. Here's a photo of my BFR 480/475 with Dick's Ultradot mounted. Thanks, Bill

I too hope/believe in the 5.5" 480 Stainless full Size Bisley. Hope it looks a lot like the beauty Jack built for me. Keep hoping for a factory octagon out of Ruger someday.

I gotta agree with Aggie01 on his Clements revolver. I was trying to find the picture, found it, and of course, there it was right in front of me anyway. So, yeah, WOW, here it is (again) My guess is (clearly unrealistically) a .500 RUGER 6" barreled revolver with Bowen rear sight - that's why they've been sold out - and a Jim Stroh front - with Persinger ivory grips. MSRP $799, right?

I guess this one qualifies as my favorite right now (despite the crappy pic), my Bowen-built 475 Pussycat...
As for the Lipsey's gun, 4-5/8 six shot .480R stainless Bisley with a pinned front sight. It'll be all the gun many shooters need right out of the box and a wonderful base for the custom crowd. Should make a nice middleweight mauler to go along with the pictured pussycat.

This looks like the perfect packin pistol to me. That's what I'm hoping for. Stainless, bisley, medium frame, 5 shot 480, adjustable sights. The short base pin makes me think 4 5/8" barrel. As a long time ruger single action guy, raising a family unable to justify the cost of a custom, but wanting a 480 for a packin pistol here in an Alaska- there is hope. Many thanks to Jason at Lipseys for making good things happen whatever they look like exactly... Now I'll just have to figure out how to find a dealer who can actually get one into stock. 40

Guess: Ruger 5 shot 480 Bisley I placed an order for a Freedom Arms Field Grade 7.5" .475 Linebaugh, and waited around 6 months, if I remember correctly. Action job, V-notch and brass bead. Disclaimer: This was probably 10 years ago I had a bad turtle problem in my Catfish pond. I spent a considerable amount of (very fun) time beating the population back. The day I picked up this gun, I loaded it up with some 420 grain cast loads, and rode the 4 wheeler out to the pond and fed the fish. This big feller came swimming up and scooping catfish food up with his big snapper, The picture is the result of the first shot ever fired from that gun. I would never sell it.

Hey Frank -- USE ENOUGH GUN !!!! lol! Can't think of much that would be more fun! Very cool, early John Linebaugh .475 -- not mine, but I shot it -- ergonomics not particularly friendly recoil wise. . Here's my FA757 that that started out as a 6" magnaported, unfluted cyl gun. After 15,000 plus rounds, sent it to FA to be rebarreled and the cyl fluted. Sorry for the lousy pic and attempt at photobucket enhancement. . . Have absolutely no need for, can no longer shoot comfortably or accurately, but would wish it to be a mid frame, flat top bisley, .480 Ruger, 4.6" or 5.5", blue or stainless, would buy either in an instant. With that said my guess, like most of the others, is a 5.5", stainless, Full Size, Bisley Blackhawk 5 shot .480 Ruger. AXE, don't put my name in the hat, give someone else a chance -- I have enough .480 brass.

Nice! I'll play, my favorite 480 is my own Huntington New Vaquero with a 4-3/4" "N" frame S&W barrel and S&W sights. My guess for the Lipsey's gun is a SS Bisley in 480 with a 5-1/2" barrel, though I'm hoping for a 500 of some flavor since I don't currently have one in the stable. What is really neat, It's probably the only S&W barreled single action with British proof marks on the barrel! Those proof marks are cool! Who did the rebore on the barrel? As for the guessing-game: I'm going to go with stainless Bisley, 6", barrel, 5 1/2" ERH; just to be different. I hope I'm wrong, I like the longer ERH but would rather not have a barrel longer than 5.5"
