I've got several hundred rounds of .357 brass primed with standard primers. I'd like to use some of it to drive 180r bullets over H4227. Anyone have experience with H4227 and standard primers? I've used it with small rifle primers in my .357 Maximum, but otherwise have no experience with the powder. I don't have any 2400, or I'd use that.

oregon45.... load up. The 180 grain bullet should provide good holdback for ignition. Walking in cold, I'd take 4227 under the 180. The question is not the powder-bullet-primer combo. The question is: what gun is to fire it? As a rule, I do not fire jacketed 180 grain bullets in a S&W Model 19 or 66. 2400 is a great powder under 125 JHP's in the .357, although, expect it to be hard on the M-19/66. A 6-inch barrel .357 should push a jacketed 180 1,000 fps. Some reach 1.100 fps. David Bradshaw
