I'd take a nice pinned front sight, stainless, Bisley copy. Would not consider paying any more than any other Ruger Blackhawk. After all, it will just be an off-the-shelf Ruger with tight throats, barrel constriction, inadequate sights, and poor trigger. It will need a good clean up throughout with custom sights on both ends and grips.

while I'd like one... I'm more inclined to buy the Alaskan in 480, or if I have to... a Super Redhawk & trim it down... ( unless they wanted to do 4" factory double action )

I guess I'd go as much as another 100 bucks over a basic BH or SBH.. I'd also want a pinned front sight, since I already have a couple of BH's with bottomed out rear sights.

Also, Ruger strikes me as a far more responsive company now than it had been for most of its history. Up until this century at least. I agree with that. Although considering the fact that a custom can be built on the medium frame, a BFR-sized .480 is even less attractive. All I'm saying is that I won't buy one but I do think they 'should' build them. I think there is a market for it and would like to see the .480 be more successful.

Blue would be nice... If they build it they will sell a boatload. Look how many 500 Smiths they've sold. I would love for them to make a 480..then there would be, like the 500's, a lot of used "only shot 3 time" on the market...

I can see the "typical" Joe Public gun buyer now days at the gun counter.... "A 480 what?... and it's only a 5 shot??... and I have to cock the hammer??... no thanks.... I'll take the 500 uber mag. And I don't have to cock the hammer... makes it a better bear gun....."
With no big name ammo makers like Federal, Hornady, Winchester, Speer, Nosler etc. loading 480 ammo with specs that look better than a 44 mag to average Joe Public I think a 5 shot SA would be a marketing dud for Ruger. True, Buffalo Bore, Grizzly and a couple others load decent 480 ammo but you don't see it at your local Walmart, etc.
A 5 shot 480 Bisley would be for a specialty market for sure. Besides, if I remember right wasn't Bill Ruger dead set against a 5 shot 454 which is why they went with Carpenter steel?. I wonder if that same sentiment holds true with Ruger today.

4 5/8s blue large frame vaquero with a windage adjustable front sight that is too tall also. I guess a bisley grip frame although I'll have to modify that for my dainty little hands. Oh and could you please make the trigger guard large enough to put a gloved finger in??? Apparently no one at Ruger ever goes outside to shoot or hunt with a sixgun.......

I would have paid 700 to 800 a few years ago. Now that I have a BFR 475, I'm not sure I would buy one. I sent the request for a 5 shot 480 bisley to ruger's ask the ceo a few times.

I also bought a BFR 475 after waiting for a Ruger SA 480. I will still buy a new Ruger SA in 480 in the $800 range if it's a Bisley.

I'd pay 800-850 street price. I don't care what MSRP is - it's never the actual price. I'd prefer a 4-5/8" or 5-1/2" stainless on the Bisley/SBH frame. I think it's more likely they'd do a 7-1/2" Hunter model, or make a Bisley in blued with the 7-1/2" barrel.
Of course it would be a 5 shot - building a bigger frame would be a waste of time and energy. I feel like the BFR long cylinder models are hideous, and I wouldn't want to carry one. The Smith & Wesson X frame guns are more or less a novelty item/rounding out a collection/conversation piece for most people. The .480 Ruger could realistically be hunted with.
As for the .45 Colts being wrong all the time - yes, they are. But - they are factory produced, inexpensive, and nothing is too big. If they made the cylinder throats .454 I wouldn't be happy - better to have them .450 and easy enough to open up later.

The BFR standard frame is nothing like the long framed guns and only a bit bigger than a standard Blackhawk.

Sorry - the normal BFRs are just ugly to me - largely due to that giant rubber grip they are usually shown with. The long cylinder ones (like the 500 S&W, 45-70, etc) are the ones I find truly hideous.
Totally subjective, but still I wasn't very clear! haha

I don't think they look half bad with the Micarta grips........JMHO. you're right about the rubber grips being a bit homely (that's putting it mildly).

I can't agree on the BFRs. They are high on my list and working a deal to add one in 44 Magnum to my stable.
Already have them in 500 JRH, 50 AE, 475 LB and 454 Casull in the short frames. I figure adding one in 44 Magnum just makes sense.
If you own guns to take pictures of, they may loose a little ground. If you enjoy shooting and hunting with revolvers, they fill the bill nicely to me.
Just my opinion..
