Am in Cody filming for GUN STORIES WITH JOE MANTEGNA Season 5...I spent the day with John Linebaugh and Steve Grabe. Man, I wish you all could have been here!
Did a 2+ hour interview with John. I hope to make the entire interview, which is pretty much a comprehensive history of the .500 Linebaugh, available on DOWN RANGE TV when the show runs.
BTW, John bought in a couple of "unicorns," Dick Casull's personal 5-shot .454 Single Action Armies. Wow!

Always liked Joe Mantegna on Criminal Minds and the first time I saw him on Gun Stories. Well I knew he had to be a stand up guy.

Sounds like a good day for you! I was fortunate enough to hold one of those unicorns in my hands! Not a bad way to spend your day.

Remember reading about those .454 Colts when they were "new".

That sounds great. Isn't Steves last name spelled Garbe? Not picking on you,,, That was something special for all involved. I hope I get to watch the show. Steve does some great work also. He can do some excellent Color case hardening.

I can produce, but I can't type…

PS: This afternoon was looking at the x-rays of the 1973 Winchester found leaning against the tree in Great Basin National Park. The I got to examine the gun itself. Again, cool.

Hey, he said he can't type, so he slipped & put a 9 where the 8 should be. So what,, we all knew what he meant. Michael, you truly do get to have some really good days that a lot of us would like to have. At least you are able to share it with us! Thanks!

See and I thought maybe there was a lever action that was found in 1973 leaning up against a tree, and somehow I had misinterpreted what he typed!! Or thought he had typed. Either way that's a long time for gun to just be leaning there.

Sorry..I'm just posting in between filming takes. Typos slip through. And will continue to slip through.
Working with LeMats today.
Also found an EM-2 bullpup down in the vaults at Cody. Darn rare. In pretty much perfect condition.
I'm thinking I need to pony up the money for a "gen-u-wine" Linebaugh.
In 2 weeks we'll be filming high speed videography at GUNSITE with a .454 from Bob Baker at Freedom Arms, a little something from Hamilton Bowen, my classic United Sporting Arms .454 Magnum," a .500 S&W Magnum, a special BFR and a surprise from Ruger.
Heck, I'll probably misspell those, too! LOL!

PS: 1873 was NOT loaded, x-rays proved. It is not a "trade gun" regardless of what you read. Tacks in the stock were clearly for repair. AMAZINGLY, a little of the case-hardening remains on the receiver,

Quick update...subsequent x-rays found a round in the tube...looks to me like, duh, a 44-40...will allow better dating for when the gun was leaned against the tree. Bet is 50-75 years...
