A little birdie told me one was getting finished up today. Does it belong to anyone here? The same little birdie told my 500L is next. So, I guess the "mystery max" was holding mine up!

I know a guy was having the Max built and it was to be finished soon. May be by now. Are you local to his shop?

Guys,
I *am* local and am planning a trip over (about 1.5 hour drive) this week...anyone want me to follow up on something?
I've got a couple of things in the pipeline now with Gallagher, and we've been playing phone tag for 2 weeks.

Perhaps you'll be able to get a sneak peek at mine. No need to poke and prod at him on my account though.

Sounds good...I won't poke him about yours He tends to return calls in the evening, and I'm teaching in-load right now (3 classes, 2 that meet at night) so it's easier to just hop in the car and drive over...I've got a 1974 41 NMBH that he's Bisley'ing, and I'm really leaning towards having him do the #5 gripframe instead (if he hasn't already started on the Bisley gripframe) based on some of the lower serial NMBH's I've seen that have been Bisley'd...lines between the cylinder frame and grip frame are atrocious (evidently Ruger used 2 different heights on cylinder frames until a couple of years ago), and with Keith's collection on auction, it's kinda rekindled that itch for a #5 knock-off.

Hey, if you get a chance, ask him the status of the octagon barrel order that he took pre-orders on a couple/few years ago. I paid for a 45 and 41 barrel - as of July of last year he had not received them yet...

Went by Gallagher's today...spoke to him re: octagonal barrels (and changed mine out to one as well). Said he was heading up to the manufacturer in the next couple of weeks and that they should be able to work him in soon...first run had the front sight base milled wrong and had to be returned...mentioned that the supplier had big (as in thousands of items) orders in play and that, given the relatively small size of his shop, the larger orders tended to get front burner treatment. I asked if changing mine to octagonal barrel would significantly impact my wait time and he said "no", so here's hoping we'll see them "soon". As always, John was nice to talk with and we chatted for about 30 minutes. Hoping that me wearing an FSU Seminoles t-shirt doesn't lengthen the wait, as his wife was (and always is) wearing an Auburn shirt
