Your cartridge is the .45 caliber M1909 cartridge fore the Colt M1909 revolver, the New Service. Case should be brass as these are: Note that ammunition like this was loaded as late as 1913. Incidentally, your short cased .45 Colt round is loaded with smokeless powder, as evidenced by the nickel primer. And, as a matter of interest, the M1909 cartridges cannot be loaded in adjacent chambers of a Single Action Army revolver as the rims overlap. They can be loaded and fired only if a chamber is skipped between cartridges. In the New Service of course, all six chambers can be charged. Bob Wright

I was going they some stuff before my last move and has some 45-70 rounds in a box marked "Target" Don't remember the maker. When was the last time there were Target 45-70 rounds made.
