Walked into my LGS today looking for a new shooter today. Met up with an old buddy and chatted at bit before I got down to business. I picked up an Advantage Arms 22lr conversion for one of my 1911s. None of the revolvers there really caught my eye. Now I've been wanting an FA Model 97 for quite some time. So today I did it. Ordered one in 44 Special. Just heard a few minutes ago, the wait is 12-14 months.

Excellent. About 3 more months on mine. It's going to be a six shooter in 327 Federal / 32-20 WCF.
I want a five shooter as well. Would go with 44 Special or 45Colt.
Congrats on buying a fine gun.

The wait is long but worth it. Mine took about 10 months.

I have a M97 in 44 Special -- LOVE it! I had a similar itch as the OP so I ordered another M97 in 357 AND a M83 in 454. I ordered both with extra cylinders.

If you watch GunBroker and GunsAmerica you may find what you are looking for less than the price of waiting...
Friend wanted a 97/.44 Special/4.25"/round butt and I found one of GunsAmerica in less than two months... Another friend waned the same gun in square butt and found one like new in box for $1850 on GunBroker a few weeks ago...and we went out and shot it last week.
I've have three FAs now and have had two more...all mint condition, with the boxes and paperwork for $300-700 less than ordering a new one...
Seek and ye shall find...Bob

I've been seeking for a couple of years now and no luck finding "my" gun. I've been wanting to order one for about 5 years and finally decided to just do it.
I have no problems buying used FA, as matter of fact, I have 2 in my safe now that were purchased used. All the others were new.

5.5 inch, green fiber optic, black micarta. the FA trigger job. I saw a close facsimile of one on GunInternational, but they listed it at 3K. Mine should come in at about 1K less.

Magman, that's a beauty for sure! My 5.5" 44 Special has the ivory micarta grips, trigger job and a green fiber optic front sight. This is my favorite. But, my aging eyes just are not able to squeeze the potential from the revolver. So, I added a Trijicon RMR reflex red dot on it using a FA mount. It's solid as a rock, shoots like a house afire and can still be carried in a slightly modified holster that is available form a number of good sources. I have black micarta coming on both of my recent orders.
