I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Spent most of the year practicing out to 50 yards. What a rush. I had my 444 Marlin with me, but this doe kept coming. 250 gr flat lead with 9 grains of IMR 4227 pushing it.
Shot it her with my NMBH 45 Colt.

Many, many congrats! I have to ask, is the 9 grs. of 4227 a typo? That would be a very, very light load.

Congrats. I found out a few weeks ago how rewarding it is.

I might be wrong about the powder. I'll have to ask him. it was a thrill to finally do though.

Congratulations! Doing it right. Put in the practice and time and then it pays off. Good for you.
