A friend of mine had this and decided it wasn't for him. I'm generally not much of a fan of fixed sight revolvers but I picked it up and couldn't put it down. It has a windage adjustable front sight and I really like the rounded grip with the 4 1/4" barrel. Its light, compact but big enough to feel comfortable in the hand. Its a 45 Colt so it will handle anything I'm likely to run across and with the fixed sights its pretty knock around proof. Nothing is perfect so of course I'll keep looking but all in all a really sweet bum around the woods gun.

I like it, especially because it's a fixed-sight revolver. Those fixed sights will take far more abuse than those of the adjustable variety.

I've had a 4 1/4" M97 in 44 special for a number of years now. Mine has the adjustable sight but I've got the rounded grip as well. I believe if it came down to one SA that this would be it for me! Sure do like mine!

The M97 is marching right up towards the top of the Want It list!
Great looking revolver ya got there! I think the fixed sight guns are usually a bargain!

I have the same gun, without the trigger stop. I like it also.

As a general rule, I am an adjustable sight kind of guy. However, when I was shooting Black Powder Cartridge Rifles, they offered side matches for fixed sighted guns. I bought a Ruger Bisley Vaquero in .45 Colt and was surprised to see that it hit EXACTLY to the sights at 25 yards right out of the box. It also had an excellent sight picture, as does the O.P. new revolver. That revolver won me a number of hotly contested matches, including score matches that included 50 yards NRA Slow Fire targets.
Interestingly enough, the revolver also shot to the sights with smokeless powder at similar velocities.
It didn't totally change my mind about fixed vs. adjustable sights but did open my eyes to the possibilities of a really good field revolver with fixed sights.
IF the revolver has a good sight picture (no 1st Generation Colt sights for me) AND shoots to the sights with a chosen load that works in the field, then there is little downside to it's use. As was pointed out they are somewhat more rugged than adjustable sights...
At any rate, congratulations to the O.P. for his new acquisition!
