I know y'all have been waiting with bated breath to see the photos of my newest New Frontier. Well, here it is: This originally a 7 1/2" in .45 Colt. Got it at a bargain on GunBroker, enouugh left for action work and cutting the barrel. Bob Wright

Very nice, Bob! I don't yet own a New Frontier but yours sure does make me realize my deficiency. Would love to see some pictures with some great leather.

Colt New Frontiers what an appealing firearm! Nice to see the bbl cut to a more comfortable length. It appears the bbl is now 5.5". Like MaxCactus would love to see the leather it will ride in while out and about. Also some targets!!!!

Very nice. My preference turns to 44's but that'd make me think hard on cheating lol.

Bob, I always enjoy your posts and especially the photos of your single-actions. That is a fine-looking Colt. David

Just about ran out of bated breath, so glad you finally posted the pic. Looks like a nice NF. Who did the modification and action work? Are the chamber throats .4525 or considerably larger like the usuaL Colt .456. Has Colts fit n' finish improved on their SA's?
I'd imagine that if the things I mentioned above were not to your satisfaction, you'd have shipped it back to the seller. In that case it apparently checked out fine .... so now all you need to do is shoot and enjoy.
I love flat-tops and have been looking for a Colt NF, but the 2 that I saw at 2 different LGS were not the precision quality I was looking for. I'd prefer a 5 1/2" bbl, but if the deal was right I'd opt for a 4 3/4" or 7 1/2". Either .45 or .44 spl will work for me.
Again, enjoy your new acquisition.

I own a 70s production New Frontier 44 Spl. 7 1/2 inch barrel. Shooting cast 255 grain bullets over 7.8 grains of unique, i shot an honest 2 inch group at fifty yards. I also own the eighth new frontier to roll out of the factorys new production. fit and finish is amazing. extremely accurate. Unfortuneatly the barrel is turned in so hard that you have to max out the rear sights to the right for it to shoot strait.

if you can find an original 4.75 barrel 44 special New Frontier, I will happily trade you 3500 bucks for it.

That must be really nice. I've heard of a few 44 40 barrel swaps and would be proud to have one. How does yours shoot? I really wish Colt would release a tiny run of 44 Special NFs.

it shoots quite well with either cylinder. it is hard to find the 44 spl cylinders though. it was nearly a drop in fit. i have 44 spl new frontiers in 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 both of which also have fitted 44/40 cylinders too.
i really like the new frontiers - their size is just right for me and i really like adjustable sights

As an update to the saga of this New Frontier, I sent the trigger guard and backstrap off yesterday to Sack Peterson to be fitted with stag (elk) grips. Now comes the waiting.
