At one time, many years ago, my Super Blackhawk looked like this one: Then, its barrel got cut to 5" Then came a brief trial period with stag grips: And, finally, rosewood grips from Lett, a new Blackhawk hammer and a trip to Doug Turnbull: Think it'll stay this way now. Bob Wright

Looks great. You like the looks or feel of the standard hammer better than the Super?

Looks great. You like the looks or feel of the standard hammer better than the Super? Yup. Digs into the flesh of my thumb better. Bob Wright

Bob,
That's a great post and a 'Super' SBH! I have several that have evolved similarly but never took pics along the way. Many Ruger owners probably do as well. Great to see the steps of the transformation.

Very nice! I love shortened OM Supers!........You wouldn't happen to have the original hammer just lying around would you?

Bob: Beautiful Ruger Super Blackhawk and I love the barrel length. The final configuration is perfect! This is one of my favorite single actions, also an old model Super Blackhawk but with the original barrel length and hammer. The stocks are new. J.D. Press

looks awesome... I haven't decided which hammer shape I like best either also never been a huge fan of stag grips, though I seen some incredible art posted here... so to rephrase... never liked any I could afford at the time... also a fan of 4.5 - 6" barrels... just can't make myself like the longer ones... that & the longer ones don't fit well in my pistol rack ( perhaps by design ) my 32-20, 44-40 & 50 AE are the only revolvers left with over 6" barrels
