Please! If anyone else finds their .327 in similar condition, PLEASE take photos and post them here. I don't doubt anyone who says their gun was not well fitted and finished, but some comparisons would be nice, as would the serial numbers so we might determine some pattern, if iany. It would be nice to know that the ill-fitted guns are the rare exception and not the rule. Perhaps Lipseys might even take a look if we post them and give Ruger a reminder.

Mine is a late 800's number. I don't want this to be a Ruger or Lipseys bashing, that's not my intention. My BC gap was huge. The finishing was not really up to snuff. I posted more pictures of that at the other forum. I am not as concerned about the finish as I am the cylinder gap. I ended up having them send it back to Ruger before I accept it.

Mine's great.................. How well is your cylinder fit? I am very curious about these differences as this should be all new tooling. If large BC gaps are the norm, but they are shooting fine then I might need to shoot mine before sending it back.

I don't understand this. How does not being a deer cartridge make it junk? If not being a deer cartridge makes it junk, then the list is going to get long in a hurry. I personally think we have a deficit of cartridges for small game.
The 30 Carbine has hung in for a long time, the 32-20 WCF a lot longer. The 327 Federal fits right in there in a much smaller package.
This ranks right up there with shooting a rabbit with a 454 Casull and complaining that it ruins too much meat. Use a cartridge for what it is designed for and it'll work every time.

But, I watch this every time a cartridge is introduced or reviewed. Not trying to pick an argument, but read all this same stuff on the 17 HMR. I never did fall for the "do it all cartridge" and would hate to know I was limited to one or a few guns.

Alright if you read much of Mr. Mann's writing you will find he is a practical guy, he likes mild cartridges and likes the 327 Federal a lot. I know he has shot a deer or two with the full sized Blackhawk 8 shot 327 and is a fan of rifle cartridges such as the 30AR and 7mm/223, he understands just about any reasonable round placed through the lungs of a deer will kill it cleanly and a deer shot with a cannon, if the bullet is placed poorly will have bad things follow. I thought it was cool as can be that he took a deer with a Single Six 327 Federal already, I have toyed with filling one of my doe tags this fall with my 32/20 Buckeye and a cast Ferminator hollowpoint but we will see if that happens or not. I have a few guns I want to try this fall as well and this one would not be first at bat...

I'm hoping someday to see a Single-Seven 327Fed in the Bisley Hunter platform.

I'm hoping someday to see a Single-Seven 327Fed in the Bisley Hunter platform. I have been considering sending one of mine to Jack Huntington for his grip conversion. I would like to see a Bisley model myself. I guess sales will regulate whether or not that happens. I have been wanting to try one of Jack's conversions to Bisley and this just might be the ticket. I bought the 4 5/8" version this morning to go with the other two barrel lengths. I don't think there is any way to loose value on these guns.

I would like to know how Lipseys allocates orders. We missed the first run of Shopkeepers because we live in a small town and our dealer ordered but could not get to the head of the line. Took a year to get a Shopkeeper. I have the desire to have the revolver and I have the patience - if necessary. Does not mean I will be happy with Lipseys.

My LGS got two 5.5" and two 4 5/8" guns in. I believe he ordered me one of the 5.5's not realizing I wanted a 4 5/8 and a 7.5". I picked up the 4 5/8" today and I'm fairly pleased. The revolver didn't exhibit the large cylinder gap some others here expressed concern about although the figment of the grips did leave a little to be desired.
The one odd thing was how gritty the action felt right away. I took off a grip and lubed the hell out of the internals, then dry-fired it a bunch. Seems to be a lot smoother now but the trigger still is a bit notchy while cocking, then after firing, it will click while pulled with the hammer down. I found this really odd.
Incidentally, the shop where I picked up the revolver had an unfired Blackhawk in .327 Fed for a smokin' price and I may decide I need it too! It certainly did feel NOTICIBLY bulkier and heavier than the svelte little Single Seven, but it certainly felt sturdy!
