Ok...all I have at the moment is American eagle 100 grain soft points. Have only fired 9 shots in this new 71/2. Get peppered in the face with powder??? at every shot. In those 9 shots the base pin jumped the latch once and tied up gun. The 9 cases for whatever reason are sooty and black. I know that's usually a low pressure sign, but really don't think these are low pressure rounds. Cylinder gap almost .008. Too much? Does anyone know rugers spec for this? Anyone have similar issues? I'm sure I can get a handload to work better but this is the only way I can get brass for now. Will chrono these if/when rain stops.

I had exactly the same experience including the base pin issue, peppering with both the 85 gr and 100 gr AE ammo. Black was only on one side of case tho and my cylinder gap is .002. Going to try 100gr XTP's hopefully this week end and install a stronger base pin spring.

Well, getting dark and overcast. Took shades off chrono and got 4 out of 5 shots to read. American eagle, 100 soft point, 7 1/2 barrel. High was 1585, low was 1542. Avg. was 1568. Cold out and each shot velocity went up. I'd guess if gun was up to temp, all velocities would be very close. Still getting peppered in face... Starting to like it though, definitely gonna get abused and used!!

Well, my friend in Deming got word that his Single Seven will arrive next week. Takes awhile to get to the small shops I guess but he is getting one.
