f About a year and a hal ago, I bought this Hy Hunter Western Six Shooter in .357 Magnum. The price seemed reasonable, and the potential for a project gun was there. colt The grips are those awful plastic fake stag, and trigger guard, backstrap, and ejector rod housing were Zamak. I had a brass trigger guard from a 1851 Navy, and got a backstrap for a Hawes Western Marshal. After fitting these, I made a set of one piece style walnut grips. I had planned on replacing the Christy type firing pin with a Colt type, getting a Uberti hammer and Colt recoil plate. However, I conferred with my gunsmith, Keith Warner, and decided not to put too much more money and effort into what would end up being a parts gun of no name. So, here it stands: Decided to keep it as a .357 Magnum, and certainly needs some sight adjustment. Bob Wright

Where I'm from they'd say "Looks a sight better." No pun intended. I have a set of the awful mother-of-toilet-seat imitation "pearl" still on my 60 Flattop .357 that came with it. One of these days....

Nice looking piece! You've really made a silk purse out of a sows ear! I recently picked up a JP Sauer & Sohn in .44 Magnum. Seems like a pretty well made piece and it's pretty darned accurate: I'm very interested in the work you've done. Do Uberti SA frames fit it without modification? If so, which model? It looks as though maybe mine is the same frame size as yours.

I think it's a pretty sweet little shooter. I would be happy to have that in my safe.

I think you fellas guns look pretty good and from the targets appear to be good shooters too. I have to agree though, those have got to be some of the cheesiest grips ever, and the trigger is a bit strange.
bobwrights gun turned out nice in the "after" picture. I like the one piece grips on there.
