Barrel in 44sp or 45 colt for a project. Anyone have a lead on one?

Dang, I had two 4¾" .45's several years ago. Bought them because they swore they were 3rd generation barrels, which are, of course, a lot more scarce. I returned them when I found out they were 2nd's.

Thats cheap compared to what Harton will probably charge to tune up this New Frontier, swap to the shorter barrel, and ream out the 38sp cylinder to a proper 45 colt to match that barrel. The gun was a gift so I, but I am just not a fan of 38s or 7 1/2" barrels...
Thanks for the lead

Hey Bill, if you have a 2nd Gen New Frontier in 38 Special, you have one really scarce sixgun. Please don't convert it, I will trade you a 2nd Gen 5.5" 45 Colt New Frontier for it.
Email me at bigbore45colt at ptd dot net and we can discuss offline.

I assumed he had a 7.5" .45 New Frontier and had scrounged a .38 Special SAA cylinder for it. I didn't get it as an April Fool's joke.

$450 is insane for a 2nd generation barrel. I think I paid $125-$150 for the two I had and couldn't even get rid of them to Eddie Janis for that much. He might have a few himself. If you want the shop's number where I bought mine, send me a PM as they probably still have them.

Did you ever get your barrel? I DO NOT THINK SO, but he is close to having his sanity return, Craig...

I sent Bill a barrel a week ago and said sixgun is at a local gunsmith as we speak I told him to be patient and I'd find one!
