It's been 2+ years since I've really shot for score. I used to shoot 25 yard and 50 ft bullseye on a regular basis. Won't say I'm any good, I usually shoot "against" myself and usually use my "hunting" gun. The closest to a target gun I've shot is an old Colt Series 70 Gold Cup. Last night was the first time in a while that I've stepped onto the line with the intention to compete. I grabbed the little packing gun for the farm, A Taurus tracker in 44 mag, loaded some 200 grain full wadcutters. In times past, this bullet was shot over 3.2 od 700X in a 5.5" Redhawk. This year it was over 3.2 of Clays. I didn't even sight in the gun, just stepped onto the range with a screwdriver to adjust sights during slow fire and started. Well there was not adjustment needed. The first hole was about where it should be, so I continued. Here are the targets, total score was 269 out of 300 for 50 ft bullseye target. I was pretty surprised. Perhaps I can get things together by the end of the 10 week league.

That looks like a great start! What sort of guns were you competing against? You picked an interesting gun for competition, but i guess it goes back to "throw whatcha know!"
I need to get into some more competition, see what kind of fun I'm missing out on!

There are S&W 38spl target revolvers, a couple 52's and a lot of target 1911's, Kimbers are quite popular. There is even a 38 midrange floating around. Some guys "throw whatcha know" bringing their personal defense guns. Good practice if nothing else.
