I'm set on having a Bowen Nimrod built this year (stainless, 5.5" caliber 45 Colt or up; to be determined), or acquiring one if the right one comes along, and have a few questions for those who own one or have experience with them.
1. How does the balance of the banded barrel compare with a standard, round Ruger Bisley 5.5" I had a 2005 Accusport stainless .45 Colt Bisley that I shot extensively before having it engraved and gaving it to my Dad for his retirement, so that's my baseline of comparison in terms of balance.
2. What kind of weight, and, relatedly, balance considerations arise between Nimrods chambered in 45 Colt and 475 or 500 Linebaugh? Is the weight difference enough to justify going with a larger chambering to maintain "good" (subjectively speaking) balance? I handload so I'm not terribly worried about the recoil difference between the various chamberings; I'll just load to suit.
3. How is the fit of the Nimrod barrel and front sight in holsters made for standard 5.5" Bisleys? Would it be worth specifying a slightly wider, or deeper, holster or one with a sewn in front sight track?
Any other factors to consider when looking for a Nimrod or planning to have one built? This will be my first true custom and I'm set on having it in 2014 because this year marks 10 years since I first bought, and read, Bowen's "The Custom Revolver." I was in graduate school and funds were tight, but I knew then that I wanted a Bowen Nimrod. If I'd have had the discipline at age 23 to save and plan I could have had one in about 2006 or 2007. Instead I've gone through dozens of factory revolvers, and have built a decent collection of keepers; I'm glad I've had the chance to shoot a number of interesting revolvers, but I've decided it's time to start having customs built while I'm still (relatively) young

I believe Glenn talked you out of the Nimrod and I traded Glenn a Linebaugh 500L that ended up in AK. No worries though, the 45 is very nice and I do enjoy it.
