Sounds like a fun hunt. I'm sure Ethan will always remember his first deer. Next comes one of my other favorite things about hunting. Butcher and processing the deer. That is one thing me and my father enjoy doing together.

Congratulations, Ethan! And thanks to you for posting, Mike , and to COR for helping make it possible. As an aside, when I saw Ethan shooting Hunter Pistol pigs DOUBLE ACTION at the 50 meter distance on the Whittington Center range 2 years ago, I knew we had a real handgunner in the making!

While I patiently await my next shuck, I can FULLY understand why Doc takes his time. It's "time" like this that ONLY happens when you make it happen. Not one moment wasted. Family first! I started smiling when I read the title, and my smile only got bigger. My sincere congrats to Ethan on his handgun deer! These memories, the times spent together, all will leave a lifetime imprint. Kudos to both of y'all. Love the story, love the guns, and a hearty handshake to Curt & Robb! Hey, what bullet & load etc was he using?

Congratulations!!! Ethan and Mike. Looking at Ethan's personal gun says a lot about his maturity. This is turning out to be an unusually cold winter here and stories like this warm the heart.

Thanks fellas! This is one of those memories that I will carry with me the rest of my life....
The load used is the classic midrange load of 10grs of Unique under the Keith bullet. Same load I carry and shoot out of the Mary Gun.

THIS IS WONDERFUL, MIKE !!! I got excited reading it and when I saw the sixgun Ethan used I fairly swooned. Elmer and Skeeter must be dancing a jig together at the big range in the sky !!!

What Mike didn't tell is how patient both of them have been the last few years about getting a deer with a sixgun, it isn't easy & thats what makes it so exciting when it happens. Both Eathan & Mike have surely paid their dues when it comes to sixgunning a deer. Very few young men would have the patience to hold out year after year, knowing he could take one with the rifle & be done with it. Not many 16 year olds would do it, heck, not many adults would do it, most just give up & go back to the old rifle. Kind of gives you an idea of the bond the two share about their love of handgunning. I'd like to see a photo of the grin on Mike's face but it probably wouldn't fit on the screen. Might have to be an Idaho black bear in the mix some day, just saying! Great job to both of you. I would have posted earlier but I've been off & on with some computer problems, always happens when I get to Arizona.

True words Dick,,, true words! Smiles & memories,,, hard to top that. And a spring bear hunt,, well, that would be a hoot! I'd about tell all these folks who have critter issues to "wait a week or three" to see that!
