What is the going rate for a 7.5" Abilene (Riverhead on the frame) in probably 98-99% condition. This is the highly polished blue model with no noticeable wear or damage. Even the stocks look pretty new. The previous owner appears to have put a little red paint on the front sight but other than that, its really nice. thinking of working a trade out with them on it and another but just wanted your opinion on worth....They are wanting 400 out the door, it seemed reasonable but I didn't know for sure as I think they are really neat guns but never have owned one....
Thank you very much....

Thanks guys, I'll head out shortly and see what I can work out. They have an XP100R in 35 that looks like it would make a dandy 35/284 in like new condition with original box even for $450 that I may work into the deal. Should make two nice ones for the collection Thanks again for the help....

thanks Mike. I was pretty happy with the deal, guess that's all that matters in the end was that both sides were happy, right The serial number of the Seville is 50-004092 I think, I'll have to recheck that later. For the guys in the know, is that an early or later Riverhead gun? Is there a list of serial numbers out there sort of like Ruger has that I haven't found yet? I'm going to download Lee's article now and re read it From what I remember, this may be an earlier Abilene prior to Mossberg but I'm unsure. I think that Lee said Mossberg went with a letter prefix or something like that after they ran out of other parts. I just wonder how many were made prior to the split.

Glenn, Got your message last night (PM sent). In short though, you got a great deal. $375 for any Abilene in that good a condition is a steal. But your purchase is even better because you got the less common 9.5" model and yours is Riverhead produced (fit and finish is better on those than the Mossberg assembled guns). -Lee www.singleactions.com

You know Lee, I just assumed it was a 7.5" gun and never really paid it much attention until you mentioned it but from the pictures, it definitely looks longer. Went and checked it and from the face of the cylinder, the barrel measures just over 8.5". That's a really random length. Talk with you soon.

Zeus, awesome find on the Abby. As I was reading this thread at the beginning I was thinking to myself that you had better buy it or one of us will. Then I saw the pics and though no way in hell that's 7 1/2".... Nice piece there sir!

I had a blast shooting with Bob today. I was lucky to get the slugs to go the right direction though. Not a good day for ol' Glenn. Bob, on the other hand, shot the first group with the new Abilene. 6 shots in just a shade over an inch. Didn't put a tape on it but it was just one ragged hole basically with a flier just outside of that at 25 yards. The Abilene will definitely shoot in the right hands, which is why Bob already claimed it if I ever get tired of it . Bob is quite the shooter I have come to realize. Thanks again Bob, great way to end the weekend!!
