I'm getting excited, I just heard from Alan my Bearcat / Bearkit will ready in the next month. I getting adjustable sights, fluted cylinder, and action work. It's been gone awhile and with the ammo shortage I was able to scrounge up a few thousand to try it out, now I'll need to check every store I pass to keep myself in .22 or ammo.

EXCELLENT! I have a Harton 32 Magnum Bearcat, it's one of my favorite shootin' irons.

Given his notoriety and the extreme quality of his work, I'm sure that he has quite a backlog. How long have you had to wait so far for your gun up to this point?

Close to a year give or take. That's about what I was thinking. I currently have two there with him, but have a few months to go. I know that they will be more than worth the wait though, as I currently own two that he did action work on, and they are truly treasures. Enjoy!

I've contacted him several times during the spring early summer and he told me he wasn't taking any new work. I really wanted to get a 32-20 or maybe a 327 built. Sucks because everyone keeps telling me he's the one to have build it.

Sucks because everyone keeps telling me he's the one to have build it. My guess is that he is probably swamped with a backlog of work, and has had to stop taking on any more projects until he can get caught up. That's just a guess on my part, but it seems reasonable given the long backlogs of many if not all of the really good pistol smiths. It may well be that I'm in store for a longer wait than I was hoping for, but that's life. I've experienced the quality of his work, and know that it will be worth the wait, however long. I have met Mr. Harton on several occasions, and can tell you that in addition to being a craftsman, he is the real deal, a really nice guy and a pleasure to visit with. If he's not taking on any new work right now, it's for a good reason.
