I found an old Colt 1908 380 in my favorite shop a while back, and the asking price was so low, I had to snatch it up. There was no front sight, the surface was brown with various scratches but no real deep pitting to be concerned about. Other than the sight, the gun seemed to be mechanically sound, and I would have been happy just putting a sight on it and calling it done. On the ride home, I had Ethan do some searching, and, according to at least one collector site, the serial number put the year of birth at 1919...same year as my father. That was all I needed to hear. After a phone call, the gun was shipped to master gunsmith Alan Harton. Alan was to build a new, taller front sight, and make the dog look good again... boy did he deliver... THANKS ALAN!!!! Before Harton: After Harton: Yep...I'm happy!

Neat gun! Not as many of the .380 types...Harton is an artist. Looks brand new again. Not a bad shuck either. Classy rig.
You'll still have that .45 handy in case that .380 upsets the crooks right? : )

I'm not a big semi-auto guy, but I LOVE the 1903/1908 Colts!
Mines a .32 that was built in 1938. It's my "go to" if I want something small and flat to stick in a pocket.
That one of yours is as fine as they come Mr. B.

The 1908 Colt is the classiest 380 ever built. I wouldn't feel a bit ashamed to carry one. I have had several over the years and most of them shoot like a target pistol. If you ever handle one, prepare to buy it

Mike, that's a keeper. Great connection, and really nice work by Alan.

So is this supposed to be a surprise? :-) . There are the boys that can lay with the simple stuff like Ruger SA's and the like but I know from personal experience there is much much more from Alan. Nice piece and nice work.

Beautiful Mike, what loads are you shooting through it? I've not shot it yet, though I plan to correct that soon enough! I'll be shooting factory FMJ along with some cast bullet handloads.
