He might try a different tuckable holster. Sometimes you have to try a few holsters till you find one that works. That's why I have a box of holsters. They make a tee shirt with pockets for small guns, underarmor, 5.11. Check tacticool web sites. I only tuck my shirt in for formal occasions. When I do it is with a tuckable holster. Any other times my shirt tale is out unless its below freezing. I wear fishing shirts and jeans all the time in the summer. I keep at least two of the same type of holster for the guns i carry. One to wear while the other one is drying. If I know I'm going to get real sweaty I'll wear a nylon wilderness gun belt cause it dries faster but prefer a leather belt.

I carry the same Summer or Winter. 4 5/8" Blackhawk or Mid or Large Frame Double action in a Simply Rugged w/ inside out straps under an untucked T shirt. It's well over 90 this week up here in the Boston area, and sticky humid. Last night I had a 5 1/2" Redhawk with me IWB. An untucked T shirt works just fine for cover.

Hey Savit...you guys in the Boston area have concealed carry? I'd always thought they were pretty anti-handgun in that area.

There is an old saying that goes something like Adjust your dress for your carry... don't adjust your carry for your dress. Living in a hot & humid climate this is an issue for me too. After much research and consideration I am going to try a Milt Sparks VersaMax II over the Summer Special. The feedback I have gotten is that it spreads the weight better with wider clips (it is available with Tuckable clips) and the slightly wider surface is more comfortable. I can't wear Hawaiian shirts everywhere I go so tuckable is the only choice for me - except... except when I am not going to be carrying all day. Say just going out of the car for a while into a shop, restaurant, or wherever. I keep a KelTec P11 in my car with an Uncle Mikes pocket holster. Once size too large in fact. The gun stays oriented correctly in my front pocket and pulls right out without worrying about the holster being stuck to it. I never wear jeans... it's too hot! I wear Docker style slacks or shorts and there is enough room for easy pocket access. I have even trained myself to keep everything else in my other pocket all the time so I don't worry about keys, etc getting caught up in an emergency.
I know the guys who choose Crossbread or King Tuk type holsters swear by them, but I can't imagine wearing that much leather on my skin (or over a T-shirt) for a long period of time. That has GOT to be a sweat producer! I have a tuckable Kydex for the KelTec from GrandFather oak and it is great... very thin and works well for that small gun but I only use it occasionally. I won't use kydex on my 1911 because I have tried and it damaged the dark finish on my 2-tone Kimber. Hope something in all that helps.

Markbo,
I carried my 1911 in a Milt Sparks Summer Special II for years and really had no flies on it. My brother gave me a Versa Max II holster that he didnt like and I have been using it since. It does carry a 1911 a little bit better than the Summer Special, it speads the weight out a little more and it feels like there is less of a lump on your hip. Now I dont have the tuckable clips for it so I cant speak to those.
I will say this while I like the Versa Max better I dont know I like enough more to shell out the money for it to replace the Summer Special, mine was a gift. If I need to go tuckable it might worth it but we are splitting hairs between the two for me.
As I said this is more about my uncles warm weather issues with carrying but there has been a lot of good insite here...

Hey Savit...you guys in the Boston area have concealed carry? I'd always thought they were pretty anti-handgun in that area. Yes, we do. It depends on what town you live in though. It's up to the local police chief. Some towns aren't a problem, others you better know someone important, or no way at all. Our laws about carrying aren't all that bad compared to some states. That's not to say they're great, but they aren't as bad as some others. Absolutly NO open carry. Our laws about what handguns can be sold/transferred are positively insane though. Example: In what sane world would it be nearly impossible to buy Colt SAA that wasn't in state before Oct. 1998? I had to turn myself inside out to figure out if I could buy my Harton 44 Blackhawk. Some are o.k. and apparently other Ruger BH's aren't . IT's nuts. Want a Ruger LCP or a Kel Tec? Be prepared to spend $600+. A used Glock 26? Saw a guy fall all overhimself whipping his credit card out to pay $850 and that was five years ago. They've created a situation where it's black market prices for stuff that's not on "the lists" (yes, there's TWO lists. Crazy.

Fowler, I frequently deal with hot temps and I frequently, on weekends, wear a pair of shorts and a tucked t-shirt or tucked polo. My favorite carry option is a 45CW Kahr in a Crossbreed Super Tuck Deluxe. With this combo, sometime i forget its there. With your uncle's daily attire; this might fit his bill.

Fowler I dress similarly to your Uncle & it hot weather Wranglers the 47 ZMW this tag is on the inside back of the Wranglers. They are just a bit looser than the Cowboy Cut & may allow a wider choice of carry? Cowboy boots will also assist in CCW.

It was about 87 or so here today, which is not as hot as some places but it was muggy out, too. Real sticky, especially when I was changing the oil in the car today.
I just wore a G21 in a cheap IWB, clip-on, ballistic nylon holster and a loose Hawaiian shirt. With a serious forward cant, it didn't print unless I was bending way over... and with a bulged disk at L4-L5 I don't bend very far over anymore.
Extra mag in the side pocket of my loose fitting carpenter style shorts... and an little extra j-frame in the front left pocket.
I figure the car has a spare tire, so why not a spare heater?

Hip grip on a J frame Smith works well.

I've got a compound problem with hot weather carry....I've got a slim build...and it's Hell carrying in hot weather. I've always been envious of "bigger" folks when it comes to CC. For some reason, when you're skinny, it just makes that bulge on your hip look ten times bigger. Not much can be done about it. One might suggest wearing baggy clothes, and it might work, but I don't care to go about looking ridiculous. About all I can do is wait three more months for the season to break...UGH!!!

I will offer a different company that I have found makes a pretty good CCW holster. Many cops I know use them to carry a variety of off-duty firearms. Try; n82tactical.com Nate is a great guy who has addressed this very issue. His holsters come in different sizes, and a few styles. In my family, we have several to accomidate different CCW guns. Here in NC, it's hot AND humid. I'm known as "the barefoot man" and I wear shorts, tucked in "T's" daily. I CCW a compact 1911 45 in one of mine. Check them out.

"Change your dress for your carry, don't change your carry for your dress."
SE Texas is 90°+/90%+ for at least 6 months a year. I have been wrestling with this question for a long time. I use kydex only with guns who's finish is impervious or I don't care if they get marked up. My preferred carry is a Kimber Pro CDP (Comannder) 1911 who's finish I do care about and Kydex harms it. I don't live in an open carry state nor do I work at a gun range so after several OWB purchases over the years, IWB it is for me.
I have finally decided on a Milt Sparks Versa-Max II. This one over the Summer Special II for several reasons. Low carry. Belt loops are further apart for more security, less shifting and it fits flatter and thus less visible. Important to me is that it is available with 'tuckable' clips. Wearing inside the belt but visible is useless to me and I do not and can not always wear a hugely over-sized un-tucked shirt. Mine will also be of Horsehide because it is more sweat resistant that cow hide. I don't care about Shark trim or any other bling...it's inside my pants. I doubt seriously that would work with Jeans, but I never wear them. I find them way too hot.
All this being considered I most often simply have one in the car. When I am out and plan for packing, the VM II can join me. When I am only a few moments or it won't be long or I have to put it up or whatever reason makes that inconvenient, I have an Uncle Mikes pocket holster with a KelTec P11 in my front pocket. I went one size too big so that the holster stays put but the gun comes out fast and clean. Not ideal, but it is the best solution I have found for me. I hope this helps in some small way Mark

Ankle holsters can aid in CCW though they aren't as fast to access as a hip holster. They are actually a pretty good choice for those who spend a lot of time behind the wheel of a vehicle. I'd wear it on the non braking side.
