Ok my uncle and I were discussing hot weather concealed carry. I am 40 and wear fairly baggy jeans and button up shirts that are never tucked in, pretty much year around. So I carry a full sized 1911 in a Milt Sparks in the pants holster and never have issues.
Every now and then I just slip a Smith snubbie into a leather pocket holster into my right front pocket and my pants are baggy enough no one ever notices.
Now my uncle wear Wranglers and tucks in a button up shirt everyday all year. When it is cold he simply wears a vest over it and carries a 1911. But summer is challenging, his pants are not butt hugging tight but they are tight enough that a snubbie in the pocket is A: very noticable, B: uncomfortible, C: too tight to get to the gun in a hurry should the need ever arise. So he doesnt feel it is a reasonable option.
He has tried tuckable in the pants holsters with his bobtail Commander 1911 but it was with at best so so results. The Jury is out on this option.
So what do you guys do who live in warmer climates? The idea if a plastic .380 is not what he likes but admits is better than not having a gun. Obviously everything is a comprimise but what is the reasonable balance here?

Hot weather carry just plain sucks, that's all there is. My carry weapon is a Glock 30...and that doesn't help matters. I'm limited to carrying via the very unfashionable fanny pack, or else I simply tuck my pistol in my pants between my belt and belly. I discovered this method out of frustration on one hot day. It worked well for me...especially when I tightened my belt. All I do is make sure that there is no metal to bare skin contact...I have made a cloth pad. Primitive, but effective. Needless to say I can't wait for cold weather again. Maybe I should invest in a Ruger LCP and just carry that in summer.

I still like pocket carry in hot weather. I buy my jeans, shorts and slacks based on the size of the front pockets and while the waist fits, the fit around my legs is fairly loose. Sitting down is my only concern because then it is a pretty slow draw if you need the gun in a hurry.
For inside- or outside-the-waistband carry, I wear a t-shirt with a light summer shirt worn over it all as you would wear a windbreaker.
I tend to carry both if I am very far away from the house. You never know what you'll run into in town these days.
If it's not too hot, I wear a lightweight vest too to offer an extra layer of coverage and for all those extra pockets. Light layers can conceal most anything IME.

I carry a bisley 44sp...... if I wish to carry concealed I wear a shortsleeve cotton button down shirt (unbuttoned) over my t-shirt which is tucked in. Here in Indiana you can open carry if you have a CCW permit so do at times open carry as well. Gets warm sometimes but I dont leave the house without it

Fowler, I have carried my Bobtail Commander in a milt sparks summer special. Kind of heaver than I like to carry any more. Carry a Glock 32 or a Aluminum Officers model in jeans and under armour t-shirts. Commander rides up a little when riding my Harley,so I think it is printing. Also carry a Ruger LCP with a pocket clip in waist band of running shorts tied tite. Have not carried a pocket holster since the Secamp days. For what its worth the Galco Royal Guard is a better design than the summer special (Dare I Say That)plus the horse hide holds up to continuous sweat exposure. Just turns dark.

I'm lucky in that I have a 46" chest & 33" waist & can conceal a 1911 OWB, in shorts & a tank top.
Tossing a S&W 442 in my front pocket was the ultimate in lazy CCW, but I'd rather just put my G26 in a OWB kydex paddle.

So far for 90-95 degree days on the range I'd settled on a S&W 642 in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake. Reached the point that it was literally unnoticeable for a 9 hour day on the range. Last week successfully upgraded to an Officer's length grip frame and Commander length slide 1911 carried in a Simply Rugged Cuda. Wearing jeans and just a sleeved T shirt over a wife beater.

I wear Levi shorts and T-shirts out here on the "west coast of Arizona". It was 124 a couple of weeks ago! I carry an old S&W model 38 airweight in my back pocket.

Good Lord, and I thought Sacramento got hot!! We had 112 temps a week ago and I wanted to die. The best answer I've found in above 90 degree heat is a cotton t-shirt underneath a lightweight silk Hawaian shirt, untucked of course. The silk drapes well without printing and helps to keep you cool. Other synthetics work well, but silk is best. Carry in a strong-side belt holster or most anything else above the waistband. Max.

Sometimes, I say "the Hell with what the neighbors think" and I open carry. The Hawaiian shirt over a wife-beater is a good method but, if it's over 90 degrees, forget it. One factor which is very important - is humidity. You guys out in the western desert areas have high temps, but it's bone-dry which is much more tolerable than the stifling humidity we have here east of the Mississippi. Sweat here doesn't evaporate.

It has been close to or over 100degrees hereabouts for the last several weeks. My standard campaign dress for that kind of weather is Carhart shorts (the heavier canvas ones, basically cutoff work pants), a polo shirt, The Wilderness belt, and a Kel Tec P32 in a Galco horsehide pocket holster. It rides in a front pocket.
It's obvious something is there, but not WHAT is there. I really should upgrade to a small 9mm, like a PF-9 or similar, but this serves for the moment.
If I feel it is necessary, then I wear a Glock 32 in a belt holster covered by a Hawaiian shirt. When my latest holster arrives from Rob, I will retire the Glock in favor of my Commander.
Oh, skivvies too!

Summer time means the Kahr P-9 or the CA Bulldog. I live in shorts and loose T's and tanks. stevemb

Have him try a Ken Null City Slicker shoulder holster with an air-weight snub. I LOVE mine.
