Thanks! I've found the grips to be quite comfortable with 240gr loads up to about 1300fps. That's the hottest I"ve shot through it so far. Love the xr3 grip frame. There was a thread a while back that had a BH with smooth elk stags that really lit my fire. Was really happy to find this one used all done up pretty close to how I would have had it done myself. I might have opted for a different front sight, but I'm liking this one quite well so far. Wanted to get a few decent pics before it gets all worn in. I plan to carry and shoot the daylights out of this one!

Very cool! It should be fun to try and wear it out.

Thanks guys!
This one has a Douglas barrel, Taylor throated, action job,Kieth style base pin, action/trigger job, endplay set to a miminum (very small cylinder gap) . I've been playing around with mostly handloads of varying charges of 231 because that's what I have the most of. I haven't found a load it doesn't like yet!! Getting very good results shooting off hand. Ran some factory loaded jacketed stiff that did well too, but I was shooting a bit better with my lead handloads. Even tried some Trail Boss (7.3 gr) for a real mild and accurate plinker.
I'm finding it a real joy to shoot. Going to load some more rounds up this afternoon, and hopefully hit the range again Tuesday night.

I'd say spot on all the way around. Are the hammer and trigger blued or CCH? I can't tell from the photos. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I was a little unsure about that look, but turns out I love it now that I have it in my hands. The hammer is fitted so it doesn't drag on the frame anywhere. Regarding the hammer...I find the hammer much easier to reach with the XR3 grip frame than on BH's with the XR3 Red grip. Is this my imagination or has anyone else noticed that too? Got to say thanks to you Lee. If it wasn't for this board, I don't think I'd know these type of beauties existed.. -Mike

Just got back from the range again with another 50 experimental loads through it. Haven't touched the sights since I got it last week. Found the hotter/warmer lead loads hitting just a touch low, and the milder ones hitting pretty much where I wanted. Have a total of 175 rounds through it so far, and it seems to really like this mild 7.3gr HP-38 with a 240gr LSWC. Each target is six shots, two handed, unsupported at 30 feet. I'm pretty happy with these results. Might try this load at a longer range rested next time, but I like to do most of my shooting off hand. Did some one handed shooting at the same distance with just a tad bigger groups. I'm REALLY loving this one!

Seems like a "Perfect Packin' Pistol" to me in a well used/loved Sourdough Pancake from Rob L.
