Well, yes, the ser. No. is 13XXXNF. Maybe I'm wrong in my terminology. I thought the original New Frontiers were 1st Generation and the current to be 2nd Generation in the New Frontier line.
Well, I said it was 2nd Generation in my post, didn't I? Shoud have said it was 1st Generation.
Am I in error? Not much on geneology.

Bob,
There were no 1st gen New Frontiers. The New Frontier came out in 1963 and serial numbering started at 3000NF and went up to 7288NF. The were discontinued in 1976 and brought back in 1978, or so. Third generation New Frontier serial numbering started at 01000NF.
So, the 2nd gens have a 4-digit serial number with an NF suffix while the 3rd generations have a 5-digit s/n. Your 45 is a 3rd gen.
I hope this helps.

SO, WHAT did you do with the COLT Ivory Stocked NF 5 1/2" 44SPL you use to have ?? Hornswaggled again?? I let some ornery old cowboy beat me out of it! Or did I lose it on a shooting bet?
