I just got my 460 Rowland cylinder back from Clark Custom Guns. Went out this morning for a quick function check. It was quite cold and windy but I managed to shoot 15 rounds. This was my best effort at 12 yards. I think the three center hits are what this combo are capable of on a good day. Recoil was sharp and quick. About like a 41 Magnum. I am pleased with this setup as it allows me to switch cylinders for some comfortable 45 Colt loads or use this one for Coyotes and Jack Rabbits etc.

Nice work and that's quite a custom. What load were you shooting? And what's the consensus on the 460 pressure max in a Blackhawk? -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Ok so I have a couple a couple of questions.
A: What are the details of that gun? It looks like a fine revolver.
B: What is the thought process of the 460 Rowland in a dual cylinder revolver with the 45 colt? Can it do anything that the 45 colt cant do easier? Just asking, I get the idea of the gun in a auto but in a full sized single action?

It weighs 220 grs. and has a gas check. I tweeked the design especially for the Rowland which has a longer case than a 45 ACP but the same O.A.L as the 45 ACP. This bullet can be seated to the same O.A.L as the ACP but uses less of the powder space that is available. With 11.6 grs of Long Shot and Winchester LP primers I am getting 1344 FPS out of my Springfield Range Officer 1911 W/Clark Custom barrel. I will chronograph this revolver when the weather warms up.

Since I already own a Springfield 1911 and a Springfield XD Tactical in the 460 Rowland I thought it would be fun to explore it in this Black Hawk. I also have a custom 10 MM by Alan so I am not worried about shooting a rimless cartridge in a Single Action revolver. I am quite sure the old 45 Colt will do anything this cartridge will do but hey we shoot to have fun right.

It looked like Alan's work, I was just curious about your thought process was all. I run a lot of 230gr LFNPB loads in my USFA as they hit to the sights and 255s don't. I just crimp over the front of the ogive without any issues and they shoot well. That gun just looks right and from what you say and what I know of Alan it shoots right too. I really like that piece.
