Whitworth and I made it out to my place today for some shooting. I thought I'd share some of what we took: Huntington 454 Redhawk. Jack built this back in the 80's on a 44 Redhawk, rechambering it to Casull. The stainless has been matte finished and the barrel shroud is all JRH. This is one of the finest Redhawks I've ever shot: Huntington built 500 JRH. Jack reshaped the grip and Mahovsky did the hard-chroming: One of the new 480 Super Redhawks that Whit is testing: One of Whit's groups with the 480 at 50 yards: Whit and the 454 Redhawk: Whit again with my 32 H&R Single-Six: And once the ammo was gone there was only one thing left to burn-up: -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Those are some mighty large spire-pointed projectiles in the last pic! Looks like loads of fun, Lee, and those are some great looking sixguns - esp the .500 JRH. Whit looks like he's having trouble handling the recoil of that .32 Single Six, too.
You fellas are making me feel guilty wearing the all that cold weather gear. It was sunny, clear and 73 degrees here yesterday. I came this | close to playing hookey from work and heading to the hills with some sixguns to relieve some stress. I won't make that mistake again.

That Redhawk is sweet! From the action shot, looks like it's a bit brisk in the recoil department.

That Redhawk is sweet! From the action shot, looks like it's a bit brisk in the recoil department. Only with the 360 grain loads, but otherwise quite comfortable. I put about 60 full-house rounds through it. Sweet revolver!

You fellas are making me feel guilty wearing the all that cold weather gear. It was sunny, clear and 73 degrees here yesterday. It was a little cool. Low 30's to be exact. And the Redhawk wasn't that hard on the hand. As Whit noted, the full-house 360's showed some bark. But even those were quite manageable. These extended sessions of 500 Maximum seem to have desensitized us a bit. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

Looks like a good day....
Miller High Life??
I guess the ammo scare is so bad that even the Colt 45 malt liquor is hard to find...

Lee & Whit,
Great guns, fine shooting.
What can you tell us about the finish on the Huntington 454? The photo looks very dark and had you not commented that it was stainless, I would have thought it was blued. Is it really that dark? How is this done?
Thanks,

Will we be seeing a write-up/review of the new 480 Super Redhawk?

Will we be seeing a write-up/review of the new 480 Super Redhawk? Yup. Was hoping to do the 7 1/2-incher and the Alaskan simultaneously, but haven't gotten the Alaskan yet.

It's dark gray in color and it shows no real wear despite being applied 25 years ago. I love the way it looks!

I have to say I like it. One of the more pleasing treatments for stainless steel.
Still wish there was a way to do "Ruger Target Gray" sort of thing.

Take by Lee's note the Redhawk barrel is shrouded and tensioned with a muzzle nut ala Dan Wesson. If so, the Redhawk/SRH should be a natural for this treatment. Carries a bit of the visual thump of a Civil War mortar. David Bradshaw
