Hi all- Having a problem with sight regulation on my Ruger Old Army when using my conversion cylinder. I assume everyone who plays with these has the same problem since you end up with a bullet weight range from 140gr for round ball through 250+ for Colt. My particular one is set up for .45acp and I was running the same 200gr loads I use in my S&W4596 and getting a group six inches high at ten yards with the sight tightened all the way down. I figured a lighter bullet would bring the group down so I went on a hunt and found some commercial cast at 160gr which did bring it down to about 3 inches high at the same ten yards.
I can handle that by obviously aiming lower but I sure wish I could use my regular ammo and be able to adjust for it. If I throw on a taller front sight it'll obviously allow for heavier bullets but then what when I want to shoot round ball? Two front sights fitted to the gun and then swap 'em out for what I'm shooting for the day? Any other options? Thanks folks.

I had MGM make my carbine barrel in .38Spl and I'm very pleased with the work done. I didn't go for any frills, just an 18' factory taper stainless with a scope mount for my stainless G2 action, fit and function is perfect and accuracy has shown to be excellent with what little shooting I've done with it. When I started the project I wanted to start out on the lowest level and figured I'd add to it as I went along so I went with factory plastic stock and forend and a 4x Leupold scope in Leupold rings. I've not had a chance to do any load development for it and have only used some plinker reloads but it's promising so far. I think a 3x9 is probably in the future though.

Oh My! A Super Spurred hammer for a Single Six has long been a want for me, throw me down for one of those too.

I'd sure be in for a Stainless one with Super Thumb Spur.

Worked flawlessly and I played with both black powder and the conversion cylinder in .45acp. Pin works great as an ejector rod to pop out the empties too. Every owner of an Old Army should have this setup and everyone should own at least one Old Army. Thanks again!

Kelye came through just like we all knew he would! Parts came in Saturdays mail and I put the kit in yesterday morning and fit and function is perfect. I also took the opportunity to get. anew base pin for my .357 Blackhawk and it indeed dresses it up nicely. Headed to the range today and looking forward to some fun with the quick change on the Old Army. Thank you Kelye!!

Just looked on the Belt Mountain Site and the Old Army Quick Change setup is out of stock, can anybody help me out? I don't care if it's blued or stainless, just want to get my Old army set up the way I want it. If anybody has one they'd be willing or interested in parting with, please let me know. Thank you.

I got mine on the cheap by getting a Contender barrel. Didn't help, I still want the Blackhawk.

I've watered things down to where my favorite round is the .38Spl and If I feel froggy I'll toss a few .357's in the mix. I gave up the heavies when I could no longer function through the week after a range day on Saturday. I want to enjoy my golden years. I do miss my .44's but the .357 is much friendlier to me. I do have designs on a Blackhawk 45 Convertible to shoot some acp loads out of though so I'm not dead yet.

I have two 6.5" .357 Blackhawks, mine is a stainless one and my Father-In-Law recently gave me a blued one. I'm pretty partial to the 180gr. Pugnose from Missouri Bullet over 2400. A Contender Carbine barrel in .357 is on the way as well. .357 has always been a round that can handle anything I need handled with a handgun. I think that Dragoon grip frame on yours might be a good addition, maybe I need another Blackhawk.

Haven't torn it down yet, but it's heavy with a lot of creep. I've been playing with Blackhawks for decades so I know I can get it ticking just fine, I'll just have to sit down and get it done.

Goodtime- First thing I did and it helped a lot but I'm still planning a full trigger job. A good gun deserves a good trigger.
