I didn't want to hi-jack aggie01's thread but I thought this could get interesting. What's the most odd animal you've taken? I took this whitetail in Kinney County, Texas near the end of the 94-95 season, 12/31/94. I didn't have any way to weigh him but I had to get my father to help me load 'em in the truck. He was in full velvet and had only one testicle, it was about the size of a marble. This deer was the first I ever cared to have mounted. 13 points Texas count and the drop tine is 12 inches long...I wish he had another one like it. mt

I killed a nice 10 point whitetail one time that scored in the mid 140s that had no ears, didn't notice it until we had him on the skinning rack. I'll have to see if I can find a picture of him and scan it in....GS

MT, A HUNTING PARTNER OF MINE ALSO KILLED A WHITETAIL BUCK SIMILIAR TO YOURS YEARS AGO. IT WAS NOT AS LARGE AS YOURS. BUT HAD A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF LITTLE STICKER POINTS. TESTICLES ON THAT ONE WERE ALSO MESSED UP. PROBABLY FROM JUMPING A BARB WIRE FENCE. A FINE BUCK AND A VERY RARE TROPHY. WE CALLED A DEER LIKE THAT A "CACTUS BUCK" IN SOUTH TEXAS. THEY ARE MUCH PRIZED. THANKS FOR SHOWING BROUGHT BACK A VERY GOOD MEMORY. MB

Super cool mount. I've some nice mounts but I'd really like to get a crazy one like that or at least a drop tine.

I shot an albino rock chuck in 1971 just outside of Twin Falls, Idaho, there were 3 of them, it had the pink eyes, feet, lips, etc of a true albino. I took it into a friends house in Twin Falls & put it in the freezer within the hour, later the tannery in California told my taxidermist the hair had slipped & they had thrown it away! I've always thought they stole it but thats just a guess. Dick

Dick, I'd bet money on theft. Around these parts they would have stuck a goat horn on your albino rock chuck and had a real conversation starter.
When I was trapping a lot in the 70's all of the fur buyers preferred hides frozen because that was the best way to insure there would be no slippage. I always arranged my hides so the fur between the shoulders was showing, that's where the best fur was.

I got an albino porcupine years ago in archery season. That's definitely the most odd for me,....and no I didn't check his testicles.
I had a shot at an albino 4 point when I was younger. It was a REALLY scrubby deer though and my dad put the bad ju-ju in my head about the meat so we let it pass.

I got a piebald buck one year. I had the hide tanned. When it came out of the woods, I was not sure what I was looking at. I at first thought it was a goat.

They changed the law here in Oklahoma a few years ago where you cant kill piebalds. Not sure of the logic as I would think you would want the gene pool shallowed.

robster, that's a pretty hide. Look's like a young coon on the headboard and I have to ask, is that a small beaver hide on the bed below the coon?
