Been reading about the hunting adveturs of some of you guys so far this year, and thought I'd start a tread for guys to tell eveyone what they plan on hunting for and with what weapon.
I've got nothing fancy planed this year, yet. But will be doing my normal year, Fall Turkey bow or shotgun, Deer bow/shotgun/handgun/highpower. Might try to sneak in a hog hunt with Dad and lil brother.
I always look forward to Shotgun Deer season, all the guys back together, great food, good drink, tall tails and great hunts, December can't get here to quick!

I have two cow Elk tags here in Colorado. I leave in a week for the first hunt, its a wilderness horse pack hunt for the first season and I am going to hunt with just a 44 special running the classic Keith load.
The second is a local private land tag near my house here near Denver that runs until Jan 31st, just have to have the elk hang out on the local properties I can hunt on when I can hunt. I may hunt with the same revolver or my Freedom Arms .480. I know its the "better" elk cartridge but this 44sp has some special juju going for it.

I will start in on the hogs here soon. My brother shot one last weekend with a suppressed AR10, but Im hoping before they get too spooky to be able to get within sure kill range of a couple with my sixguns. After that, I will move over to my Contenders. Then, as they get more and more nervous, I will switch up to my 338 Lapua and really put the whap on em.

Bugs and Bambi with the 22LR and 475L wheelguns.
If I can get a left-hand grip panel made for my father's Hi-Standard Supermatic Citation, it'll definitely get some time in the fields as well. I found me a little wabbit oasis late last season and Dad's ol' Bullseye rig needs some blood on it.

No kidding putting the whap on em haha.

I won't get out for deer this year, but I do want to try and get out with the 338-06 and walkabout for elk this fall. I guess I better get some ammo loaded up...

Carolina deer and hogs with the shortguns, followed by the same in Texas in November.
The archery gods have smiled on me already with a nice 8-point opening day. Hoping to get the muzzleloader on the board soon!

Got skunked on bear in New Mexico using my 7.5" Bisley Blackhawk, .45 Colt.
Started in calling coyotes using my .32-20 Ruger Buckeye for the close ones and a 10" custom MGM barreled Contender in .30-20 for the ones that hangup.
Around Thanksgiving I'll get after the whitetails with a Bisley 'flat- top' .44spec
I also work on the ferral hogs with whatever I happen to have on when I run across them.

The Nimrod is ready if one gets close!

I'm done for this year. Got a Dall Sheep Aug 12th with rifle. Shot a bull moose a few weeks ago, couldn't get him to come in range of the 454 Redhawk. Freezer was gettin low so I shot him with the rifle at 365yds. Might do a griz hunt with a friend who wants to get one later this month. It's over on the 31st.
I'm lookin forward now to spring blackies over bait and maybe with the Gallagher 500L.
