Yesterday I shot the old 03 I showed in a rifle thread. It was sighted in with an old partial box of Ted Williams Sears 180 grain SP I dug out of our ammo hoard so we jumped in the hog hunting rig of our local farmers (Mitsubishi mini truck with a school bus seat in the back. He has lived on his place for 80+ years and hadnt seen a hog until about 5 years ago. They tear heck out of his wheat fields and he kills all he sees. So we drove the roads in the morning fog looking for hog tracks in the road. The tracks gave us an idea of which field they were in. So we drove the verge between two fields until we spotted about 15 little ones and 6 or so big ones. The hogs and us spotted each other about the same time and it was game on. By the time the gunfire ceased we had 2 big stinking boars down and all the good smoking size piglets were going out of sight in the fog. The big one on the ground we couldnt budge. Estimate him over 350. I hit him once with the 30-06 midship, and he was hit with at least 2 7.62x39's from my partners sks and the farmer shooting my Mini 30. The smaller one we barely got loaded. Estimate him 250+. He was hit by 1 7.62x39 and took 2 30-06 rounds to put him down for good.
