Jury duty. Get up early. Get there. Now go home. I guess they didn't consider you to be one of their peers. You couldn't stoop to their level? 😎

Thanks, Kevshell...That gave me a good laugh. A while back, I once had remarked that as a Police Officer, I only arrest guilty people. Not long ago I got a summons for jury duty. When I walked into the courtroom for the orientation, I saw the judge up front talking to his clerk who was getting ready. I went up to him to say hello. He said hello and asked me what I was here for. I replied, jury duty. He said in a loud voice for everybody to hear, "Not a chance Gunny. You're dismissed." He then turned to his clerk and said, "Put him on the Circuit Court's do not call list." The looks I got from all those people as I walked smiling out of the courtroom was the bomb.

In Southern California a friend got called. One of the questions was “Do you think animals should be used in testing products?” My buddy “No. They should use dissidents like in Russia ….” He was asked to leave

Last late fall sometime, I saw a juvenile Eagle glide down the valley, maybe 15ft above the river. HUGE dark bird, no white head yet. Clearly to me, not a buzzard, turkey, or red tail, all common enough here. Remember thinking , that I hoped it would take up residence. My wife saw it cross over our driveway yesterday, just above the tree tops. COOL. They've been seen , I've seen them, on nearby lakes, other stretches of the river, and the lake Erie shoreline. They congregate at the warm water disharges to the power plants on the lake. See them when steelhead fishing. But now, our very own eagle ! Gotta have a 'hood party and name it !

BACON ! So, gotta wonder..the guy that first held the fatty chunk of pig and wondered how to make it palatable ? Why isn't his name a household term ? Should be a statue, a national holiday ! Burp.

Spring broke kind of early here so I already have several mowing in already. Unfortunately it was a really wet and mild winter so the moss has exploded in the yards. A really short cut mowing then a heavy treatment of moss killer and the grass is greener and the moss is turning black. The next dry spell means one more short mow then THATCH! I have not thatch in years and it feels like walking on a mattress so it is due. Pull all that dead moss out then get the nephews over to help take it up and haul it off. Once that is done it will be aerate and overseed and see how things go from there.

My yard is a series of benches, stepping down from the road, to the river. It is disconnected sections. All different moisture contents, and differing amounts and angles of sun. First mowing SOON. It will be just tops of stuff, the first two times, and just the portion in front of the house. Each mowing another section will chime in and need mowing. The rest of the mowing season , well, it never all needs mowing at the same time.

Wikipedia says...
History Salted pork belly first appeared in China. In Middle English the term bacon or bacoun referred to all pork in general.[32] Before the Industrial Revolution, bacon was generally produced on local farms and in domestic kitchens. The world's first commercial bacon processing plant was opened in Wiltshire in the 1770s by John Harris.[33
The word is derived from the Proto-Germanic *bakkon, meaning "back meat".[2]
