Dang! Looking at conversion barrels on the Lone Wolf web site. At the bottom of the page and see G43/G42. Opened the page and BOOM! There it is. A 9x18 conversion barrel for a G42. AND it is in stock! Ordered one... RCBS and Hornady make die sets. Starline makes brass. Looking at available loading data I see a 100+ FPS advantage over the 380. Got to stay busy...

Yes, this means I NEED a G42 now.... I'll work at correcting that before the barrel arrives. Need a sight upgrade and a Ghost connector too... Pictures soon!

Am up at this disgusting hour to head to west side burb of Richmond Va.. A favored niece and her family there. We are over due for a visit. Sadly, we are due for much wanted drier and cooler weather here that I'll miss due to be there. Doh ! A visit to a Duluth Trading and some good seafood on the schedule. Gotta give the C.A. 44spec Bulldog a wipe down before it gets holstered here in a few minutes.

Nutria fur, there's a term I never thought I'd hear Was fairly common in the early 1900s for hat making. Stetson has older 1920s hats that are labeled on the sweatband and liner Nutria, Nutria Quality, or Clear Nutria. I bought a nutria felt hat body from a company and took it to my hatter. It's ok. Not as nice as beaver fur felt by any stretch of the imagination, but makes a good enough outdoor hat. This is a Derby/Bowler from Stetson, 1930s - 1940s...

Nutria were "farmed" like mink here in Oregon early in the 20th century. Once the bottom fell out of the fur market back then most of the guys raising them turned them loose and we have a huge problem with them here in the Willamette valley. As a kid we used to trap them for the fun of it, our Dad's used to give us a buck a hide for them to keep us out of trouble and to help keep the population in check.

Farmers in the Willamette Valley have welcomed shooters to come and kill off the nutria population that decimate their crops.
Stetson is offering Buffalo felt hats now... I suppose any fur might work for felt, to some degree or another. Rabbit, European hare and Beaver are the most common.
