Good morning, quite a bit cooler here today, just relaxing this morning before running errands later.

Went to Ahlmans gun shop ( 5000 guns ) today for their “shooters round up” today... buddy and I both haven’t shot as much as normal this year, competed against each other in their “Hunters Challenge”.. I won by 2 stages... but we did get caught up with some shooting we were behind on... one interesting thing that happened, “pistol packing Paula” took up my challenge ( she is an exhibition shooter and gun twirling champion )... I challenged her into twirling my 45 Colt Ruger stubbie, after I unloaded it... she was up to the challenge, and did an awesome job of it... so it isn’t as unbalanced as one might think

Weird gun show today. Saw Three Marlin leverguns in 41mag in a single isle. Saw 4-6 "kit guns". Should have bought a 32 kitgun, but I walked away. Still seems like the right call, but they seem to be pretty rare, so.... Saw a rolling-block pistol, which I own. First time Ever seeing another one. Struggled to avoid all the junk salesmen, aggressively trying to clean my glasses and sell me wine coolers!

Tuesday means the wife is volunteering at the Salem Free Medical Clinic so normally that means riding or working in the shop for me. Today may be slightly different in that later this week my wife, my mom and I are flying to Albuquerque NM to meet up with all our kids, their spouses and the only grandchild to celebrate our 40th anniversary. With kids living in Clovis, Las Vegas and Denver that seemed to be the mist central spot. Since three of the five have lived there during pilot training they have a pretty good handle on the area and found a large enough Air BNB to hold all of us.
Since it is rare for all of us to get together with deployments, TDYs and trainings I want to discuss the succession of some of the firearms from the collection for when that time comes. I don’t think we will get into specific guns but I do want to jointly discuss their interests to see if it is in the guns themselves or simply in the monetary value of such and how we will decide the order of selection in a fair and impartial manner. No plans on checking out soon but I think I want to take advantage of the rare opportunity for us all being together.

Kings6 great idea as with me having just two and getting us all together is very rare! Have fun and hope things go smooth?,

I just know that growing up my dad knew that with two artificial heart valves, he would not live to an old age. When he and my mom came down to see us for Easter when we were serving as short term missionaries in the Caribbean he could tell his time was short and he sat down with me and told me how he wanted his guns dispersed. When he passed away 4 months later, that issue was actually a non issue due to the discussion we had that day four months earlier. I want to make as many decisions like this ahead of time so it takes one more thing off the families plate when the time comes. I only know of one friend who actually took any guns with him to the grave ( his wife and son slipped his favorite ivory gripped single six 22 into his inner coat pocket during the family viewing!) so better to figure it out ahead of time.

So true!
My Dad has made his intentions clear.
BUT...living in a different state and with transfer regs tightening I don't even want to think about what sort of hoops I'll have to jump through to get them transferred.
I'll be labelled a "threat" for sure.
I have been thinking about how to sggest him tryint to start transferring them now but I don't want to upset him either....
Tough...

Nice comfortable 45 here today. Picked up my first lever action rifle yesterday. I think it will be fun.
