Got out to my farm and planted about 6 acres of winter rye, turnips, radishes, rape and field peas. Really seems to help out the local deer herd as there is not much ag around, just hay fields, not to mention helps bring the deer in for the kids and also into 5 gun range. It is so dry in MO the summer plantings never even came up. Rain in forecast fingers crossed.

Dmize, We aren't far from each other, my farm is south of Fulton. Eds-weather station is near by and my hopes go up and down as he changes the forecast, 2 inches to <0.25. Only one creek still has water on the place.

Rain from Isaac just started to hit family we have in Tampa. In N.E. Oh., may not get anything outta it. There's a blob on the radar over Indy now, that hoping to get. stevemb

Im only 45 but its the worst I have ever seen,'80 was bad but cant touch this. EVERYTHING here is dead,my garden and flower beds that I worked so hard on,the hayfields and beans are gone. Im not sure if the trees are going dormant or dying but the woods are full of brown ones. My Grandpa was 70 when he died in '85 and said that the creek down the road had never dried up,it hasnt dried up,but it is so low and the water so bad that the cattle dont go in it anymore. One of my fields that usually put out 37 1,000 bales made 3!!!!!!!!!! 2 neighbors have cut herds and 5 have completely sold theirs off,was hardly any hay put up this year and they already started feeding. What REALLY sucks..last year my hay sold for $25 a round bale, this year its ALREADY up to $75 and it isnt winter yet,the part that sucks?? ITS FARMERS SCREWING OTHER FARMERS!!! AND,between 2 neighbors and 4 friends I have heard of 35 deer dead apparently from "black tongue". We have 3 "local" does 2 have twins, and they are litterally skin and bones. Its not good and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it.

Sad part is so many people have the.... "oh well I have an apartment and no lawn to mow" and have no idea at all how this is going to play out in the long run.

Boy I hear you. We FINALLY got 7/8" out of a shower Saturday evening. It soaked up so fast that by morning, we could drive out back and the only "mud" on the tires was a little tacky dirt sticking to the tires. Not good! I planted 30 acres of native grasses in Nov....not a blade of grass to be seen. BTW....I'm in the KC Area. I'm 54 and I've not seen such dry conditions. But I have taken advantage of the minimal undergrowth in the timber....I've killed over 300 Honey Locusts since late spring. Just the ol' "Hack n' Squirt method with a hatchet and Tordon. Bob

The green glob from Indy got here at 9:30am, as per the radar image ! Yahooie ! Rain. Been worried about our well. Been catching rain water from roof for 4 months to dump in front yard rather than let drainage take it to the river. stevemb

Dry in central Ky too although we've had enough pop-up thunderstorms to keep things from completely drying up. Of course, that's hit or miss. A friend of mine who lives about 20 miles from me has missed almost all of it. Isaac has not come this far..they were talking 4-6" of rain..so far we've had about 4-6 drops.
