I recently trade to an alex arms upper. Ilove it. Any one else use the hornady 123gr amax load? Impressive. MK

I need an upper and have been looking at the 6.5 Grendel. Can you supply some more info on how's it working out for you ? I have a bunch of 140 gr I could load in it.

In an AR, the 140 is usually too heavy. The small cartridge size and limitations on pressure on the gas gun really make this thing shine in the 120-123gr bullets.
It is an incredible cartridge. I have a friend that builds very nice uppers to order specs. If you need a builder, I'll put you in touch with him.

I have been shooting hornady 123 amax loads mostly. This new toy will do most of what I want to do with a rifle. I have always liked the AR platform. Now the "mouse gun" is Mighty Mouse! Mingokid.

I've read quite a bit about the round and find it very intriguing. I'm a big fan of 6.5 caliber rounds in general and this particular cartridge really seems to maximize the AR platform's potential. The only thing that's scared me away so far is the rather high price tag (at least from Alexander Arms) attached to the proprietary round. That, and the fact that it's still almost a wildcat/niche chambering. I wish the mil/gov't would take a more serious look at the round and or a .308 based version ala .260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmore.
I would love to read a more detailed range report in the future if you can.
Thanks, Max.

Google 264 LBC and you will find less expensive components that are compatible.

Count me in as a Grendel shooter as well...the factory A-Max's worked like a charm with this one... Wolf is now making ammo for the Grendel too (brass cased) that shoots well in my gun for a "plinker" off the shelf. My intention is to run some Barnes and Nosler BT hand loads for hunting in both the AR and my 13" Grendel Encore barrel.

I've been playing with 120gr Noslar BT's and 75gr (?) Horn V-Max. Load work up is going a tad slow…. I checked my note book the other day and it would appear that I only shoot it once every 8 months. lol The 120's are promising, showing signs of groups like Boge posted, but with other scattered around. Mostly my fault. I've really gotten away from precision shooting the last couple years and my form is awful.
I'm pulling the big "load work up scope" off it and putting a 1-4x back on it so I can take it hunting this year… assuming I get to go. Last year most of my time in the woods was spent with a flintlock. Going the other direction this year and finally getting the Grendel out in the woods, even if only for a short while.

Top is An AA Overwatch that has been shortened to 18". I've had it for several years now, but currently it is in pieces as I just had the barrel threaded for a can back in the spring and haven't put it back together yet. It really likes blc2 and bulk Remington 120gr pills. The higher end stuff doesn't really shoot that much better. Bottom is a ground up build. It shoots everything well but really shines with the Hornady 123 gr a-max with the burgers not far behind. The Geissele trigger makes an AR.
